I have severe OA in back, (bone spurs, root comp. sciatica, scoliosis) in right shoulder bone on bone and left had a reverse shoulder replacement. Also mild OA in all joints knees, wrist ect... I'm 54 yrs old I take mobic, and pain meds from my pcp and steroid injections in back and shoulder. But I've moved to Flordia and I havent even unpack. I was going to buy my parents mobile home here, but the humidity is killing me. The inflammation pain is real, even with meds. Went to outdoor flea market and only lasted about 15 mins. I've gained 40lbs and just want my life back. Im willing to drive to Las Vegas, rent, money would be tight and away from family, but I will do it in a heart beat to be out of pain. Has anyone moved out west for pain relief from OA or RA. I READ comments,BUT has anyone actually done it ??? Please let me know, cause I will be traveling alone. From Michigan inflammation was bad there also.

I have had a few clients who tried it. One lady with crippling RA got total relief. At least one guy got none at all. I would note that nobody got worse to my knowledge.

So try it if you wish. Probably the best place for hot and dry. If you can work it try it for a couple of months...it does not take long to figure out if you luck out or not.

My dad who is turning 70 loves it when he visits. Back in the 1980s he was crushed against a cement wall by a forklift. He has had 8 knee surgeries, neck and back surgery, and plenty of other complications from the accident. He also has had multiple heart attacks, 7 or 8 stents and some small strokes. They said he would never be able to walk again, at least not much, maybe a few steps. After his initial recovery he has led a pretty active life, but has pain all day every day. He has visited for extended periods of time and said he truly feels better out here. He lives in Minnesota. He didn't do anything different or wasn't scientific about it, just said the weather sure helped. Your mileage may vary.

Las Vegas does have some of the lowest humidity for major metro areas in the nation, and you would probably have more relief in that situation.

However, I'm not sure what type of effect cold temperatures have on OA, but please be aware Las Vegas occasionally has chilly nights in the wintertime that range in the 30 and 40 degree marks, sometimes even into the 20's at night. I know Florida very rarely gets down that low.

Another option is to consult with your PCP and see if a medication regimen should be modified to find a more effective pain relief combination.
That option may save you a financial headache as you say rent and money would be tight.
So you would potentially be out of pain, but would you want to deal with that extra stress in exchange?

I don't want to increase my pain medication, it scares me, plus I notice on good days my pain meds worked great. I'm very interested in MMJ. I know a lot of friends that smoke it , but it was never for me, made me paranoid. I tried several brands of CBD oil , it made me hyper. Ive been reading about cbd with thc to help pain. I looked into it in FL if you get mmj card, your put on a list. If it does not work for me , waste of money and on a stupid list plus your pcp is notified. Too much for someone just wants to try it for pain relief not to get high. (I have no judgement on people who do)

I like cbd, it helps a lot of people, makes me feel relaxed like I just got out of a sauna....although cbd with thc, to me anyways, works much better. A person doesn't have to get blazed out of their mind either. Many companies make a cbd/thc pill. For me, during the day, some good sativa bud mixed with some cbd bud is a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee. Later in the day after dinner later I will trade out sativa for a heavier indica. Supposedly the thc really helps bring out the cbd qualities, and depending on what you are doing you can add more thc bud or less, have to find what works for you. Recreational cannabis is generally more expensive than medicinal, but if you dont want to get out on a list, it's the way to go. Or "gray market" deliveries from "local companies" will get you cheaper meds yet, but of course they arent tested like the dispensaries.

Order your CBD tincture online and bypass the medical crap. It is federally legal in all 50 states, but not necessarily legal by state law. If you order it and have it mailed who's going to know but you?

An excellent article re CBD. I usually get more of a high from smoking. One moderate hit will get me to sleep. I use oil during the day if I have to go somewhere.

I wish they would take that plant off of schedule 1. Research that has been done on the down low suggests that it hits the same pain receptors in the brain that opioids do, without the physical addiction. I haven’t tried CBD, but my doctor recommended it.

I moved from here to Houston and BACK about a quickly as I could due to chronic pain, I didn't even realize I had while living here before. So yes, knowing I could come back here in function better likely saved my life HOWEVER...if I hadn't already had a home and friends here I would have chosen Phoenix for better health care options. As it stands right now I travel back and forth to So Cal for nerurology appointments and have to pay out of pocket for the privilege...I feel really fortunate to be able to afford that option tho.
