I've been known to comment to the dogs, "boy those little desert squirrels sure are fast, aren't they?"
My dogs call lizards LUNCH and catch them all the time.

I agree with Yellowsnow - I don't remember any pigeons when I was growing up here in the 70's...as for squirrels, I can only guess that it is a lack of large trees.

Oh, come on. You can't be serious. Well, maybe if you're backed right up to the golf course you'd see a few. Besides, those birds around the homes there aren't quail ...those are geese ...I've seen them in people's yards over there.

By the way ...I forgot to mention the roadrunners that have become pretty rare around here too. Not enough snakes to eat I guess ...except in people's imaginations.

We had a feral cat on the patio where we fed it and it stayed for 12 years.
I think your feral cats come over here and eat my lizards. There are a couple that hang out in front and tease the dogs in the back yard.

If they are the cats that ate the mice that swallowed my bird seed that attracted the birds that pooped on my patio that I have to clean ...then that's all right.

Buzz, I'm in SC Summerlin and we are loaded with quail. What is so neat about those birds is they prefer walking to flying. My backporch/patio is covered on 3 sides so when my dogs lay out, the only place they are exposed is directly across the back, which is open. I have actually seen times my favorite one will begin to drool and then look at me as if to say, "Mom, do you believe this? Those fools are actually going to come walking right up to me." And they walk in a prosession just like a duck or goose family.

To quote Burl Ives.

" I knew an old woman that swallowed a fly"

That's just wrong dude. You make a crack about a guy's mom, and he tells you she passed, then you ignore that and make a crack about this sister??? Tain't right. You need to apologize, or crawl back under your rock.
