Casinos do the unexpected every now and then. I haven't played or stayed at the Strat since it was Vegas World, complete with moonrocks. Imagine my surprise when they sent me a $45 comp and a $10 meal coupon. Maybe they had me confused with someone else! I have the card because I have ALL the cards.

So I had to go and it was very good. There was no line at all and the service was fast. The actual buffet area was smaller than I expected and doesn't seem to seat very many people. It's $20 per person on a regular night and I thought it was a little expensive.

The carving station had prime rib, brisket, turkey, and ham. Some of the other entrees were fish dishes, stroganoff, cabbage rolls(these were great), pork loin, and Chinese dishes. The salad bar was basic and good. The cold foods were cold and fresh looking and the hot foods were hot. They had some unusual salad offerings like calamari. There was a small deli section with sliced pastrami, salmon, and cheeses.

And last, the desserts, of which I am a connoisseur, they were excellent. The only disappointment was the one ice cream available was non-fat. Other than that, definitely above average. The brownies were real chocolate and the icing was a true ganache. It was obvious that someone MADE at least some of the desserts. They didn't look or taste like they were all purchased from the same bakery and frozen. There were a few very good bite size offerings I can't even name.

All in all, worth the trip. I imagine coupons are out there if you take the time to look. Then I went out to the casino and won $100 on a .20 cent bet. It was a good night!

Been to Vegas 3 times and stayed at the Stratosphere all 3 times. The prices were great and the rooms were clean and large. We dont even gamble, just go to Vegas for entertainment and nightlife. They also gave us an extra 3 days for $25. bucks. Sure it's at the end of the strip, but we like it.

Went to Strat for 4 nights while looking for a house to buy. Large, clean room with view of the strip for $39/ night! One of the nights fell on a weekend and it was more, but still reasonable for four nights accomodations. When I closed on my house a couple of months later, the Strat gave me a "2 free nights on a minimum 2 night stay" coupon in the mail, so I stayed for two nights, essentially free. I thought it was a great place.

Me too! I loved the space theme with the moonrocks. It was something different. I wonder if they still have them locked away somewhere?

I was staying at Vegas World during the storm that blew their marquee onto Las Vegas Blvd. I was in a room that overlooked the whole thing. I spent the better part of a day entertained by the cranes and heavy equipment they brought in.

I also stayed at the Stratosphere while house hunting. Great bargain, huge room and very clean.
AAA members get a 10% discount.

I had out of town visitors recently and put them up at the Stratosphere. It's a bit of a hike, but since they wanted to see Fremont Street as well as the strip the location was perfect (and they didn't mind walking). I upgraded them to a "deluxe" room with a view, 4 nights including weekend came to $165 total!
The room came with 4 free passes to the top making it even more of a bargain... I love the view from up there.

I just wish I would have signed up for their card the first time I visited, I'd probably have lots of perks by now!

Check Stupak's grave...something tells me they are placed strategically in some sort of mystic pattern around his burial spot, indicating where the mother ship should land, so as to allow the aliens the best advantage of escape during his rebirth.

and if ANYone believes that Carney/Scammer Bob Stupid really had some Moon Rocks, I got some lakefront lots to seel in Searchlight.

I truly believe that there is a REASON his initials were BS.

Altho they MAY have been rocks that he stole from the desert on a night of a full moon.

Strat reminds me of the old Landmark hotel.
Everywhere in Vegas is free for the most part if you get reservations ahead of time. (Except maybe the Belagio)
