Hi all,

Crazy question I know.....But, does anyone know of a locals' bar / restaurant that caters to hockey fans anywhere in the valley? Somewhere that shows a wide variety of NHL games.

I don't want to go to a casino sportsbook, but would love to go to a regular bar with a couple friends....order some hot wings, nachos and beers while watching the Toronto Maple Leaf game (The one thing I miss about home).

I've checked a few out but they all seem to cater to football / baseball / Nascar......no hockey

Also, anyone ever been to a Las Vegas Wranglers game? If so, how was that experience?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I have gone to a few which advertised a hockey night and it was a sad tale. There were a handful of people around for the hockey, but they all were fans of different teams so it wasn't like everyone could get into one game. Further there were plenty of non-hockey people around who wanted to watch a basketball game. So I'd say in general no.

The pub across the street from the Orleans, McMullans, is an ok choice for hockey, especially on Wranglers game nights. Of course most of the people come before or after the game, but they'll keep some games up during the games. Also Scooters Pub on Rainbow is supposedly showing away Wranglers games this year so they probably will have a decent hockey vibe. Not that either of these are going to blow you away with hockey, but they might be options.

As for Wranglers games, its a good night out. The price for tickets is reasonable and the crowds are pretty enthusiastic during weekend games. Its not the NHL in talent or crowd, but it makes for a modest substitute. There are a core of die hard fans of the club around, but many of the people are the type who will be asking their companions "Tell me what is offside again?" or will be spending as much time getting beer as watching the game. The facility is pretty nice for the minor leagues, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the info Willy!! Will definately check those 2 places out.

Hell, I'm even thinking of opening a hockey / MMA focused liscenced establishment in Summerlin or Southern Highlands area.I'll even serve poutine and Molson Canadian.. I just have a feeling it will be a money bleeder though. Oh well.

I will be going to a Wranglers game ASAP. Sounds awesome. Don't know why I waited this long.

If you know hockey, you'll definitely be able to tell the difference between the NHL and the ECHL, whose players are smaller, slower and obviously less skilled than NHL players.

If you're not all that familiar with hockey, you probably won't be able to tell the difference, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

But any hockey is better than no hockey IMHO, and the Wranglers put on a decent show. I went Saturday, and the attendance was just short of 5,000 - all in all, not a bad atmosphere.

Not that familiar with hockey? That's like suggesting someone from Tennessee might not be familiar with NASCAR. Lol.

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to seeing a live game again. In Toronto, Leaf games are either sold out for years, or if you use a scapler, it will cost you about $200-300 for an average seat.

Hockey is hockey, no matter how you slice it

You may have to explain what poutine is? Or a canadian hot dog with everthing? You could look into the NHL package on TV and hockey night at home with friends minus Don Cherry lol.

Poutine is the best thing ever!! Just very bad for you. It's a huge portion of fries, topped with Quebec cheese curds and a TON of gravy.
Poutine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mmmmmmm. Oh, And I gave up on looking for poutine here that months ago.

As for the NHL TV package, great idea Irish. Never thought about just staying home. Could be cool, especially if Don Cherry would drop by. LOL.

Santora's Sunset Bar and Grille on Sunset Road in Henderson is a Buffalo Sabres Hockey bar. Oh, they broadcast the Bills too, but I'm pretty sure it's just another reason for Buffalo transients to have an excuse to drink at 10am on a Sunday morning. LOL I was born and raised in Buffalo NY, and know the feeling not being able to watch hockey. I have gone there quite often and brought my friends as they serve wings, pizza, and beef on weck there. The owners were from Buffalo, NY and brought their business out here, so the food is pretty similar to what you find in Buffalo, NY. The hockey fans there are intense, but you and I both know if you walk in there with a Leafs jersey...lol..well, good luck! lol

Poutine AKA artery clogger on a plate. I dated a girl from Montreal who made it for me a few times, treating it as a complete meal. I had to stop about four bites into it - was just too rich. I think it's cool you can even get it at Costco in Canada. If only the Costco food court in the US had the same stuff as Canada - poutine, chicken strips & (good) fries, Montreal smoked meat sandwich, lobster roll ... yum.

I firmly believe you ought to have a defibrillator handy whenever eating poutine. You never know when cardiac arrest is going to hit & want to be prepared

As much as I try to continue rooting for the Leafs, it's sooo hard. They've been craptastic for a long time. Sadly, with maniacal Toronto fans they sell out every game regardless of ticket prices, so they don't have much motivation to improve. Guess it's time to go back & watch the movie SlapShot again to get excited for hockey!

Like rentmax, I've had a hard time finding places to watch hockey, so I'm mostly resigned to watching what games are available at home in hi-def - hockey definitely looks great & is easier to watch in hi-def.
