Hey All,

I am coming to Las Vegas by myself in late feb early march from Australia and will be there for about a week before I meet myself and then meet up with family in LA. I like playing a lot of black jack and a tiny bit of poker and I am currently in the process of booking accomodation. I am looking at the mgm grand, the mirage, luxor, monte carlo or caesars. - but I am totally not sure which is the best and I havent booked yet so I would love to hear what you all think.

Ideally I want to stay at a hotel that is on the strip and learn about places that you all think are easy to find/meet new friends.

I have also just started my masters in business administration at Sydney university and I am trying to convince them to allow me to possibly take 2 electives (classes) at an international university. I was wondering who on here goes to UNLV or might know where I can find a forum to chat to people about the uni. I would love to look at UNLV but not sure if I should find someone to take me on a tour or if I can just wonder down to the grounds and have a look.

Any help would be awesome.

Paul.

Staying in a casino at least to me is all the same unless it's a complete dump. All your choices appear about the same to me. People who have stayed in all of those might be able to chime in with some more details.

I'm pretty sure most colleges will show you around if you ask. You should probably call first though. Good luck, it's not going to be what you imagined but that's neither good nor bad.

You can tour the campus on your own or contact UNLV to arrange for a tour.

When do you plan on going? Have you looked at this site?

Just be prepared to be underwhelmed. Not the most exciting looking or feeling campus around. Masters level business classes are almost all evening classes with people who are mostly in the program because their employers are paying for it and who hold down full time jobs in the day.

Hey all,
thanks for all the replies.
I was planning on going to study in July but I haven't made up my mind which uni I wanted to enrol in. That way I am just going to look at a few of them when I go over and pick the best one.
I have actually checked out that site Lyra but I do not want to apply if I dislike the place.

I'm going to be honest...it's not the best campus I have been on. I'm going to be applying for a program at UNLV in a year and will be attending fall 2012.
I suggest contacting the school and asking if they offer a tour of the place and you can get a better idea.

I have gone to 3 other universities/colleges while finishing up my undergrad and UNLV has a different feel from the typical campus.
