A friend is coming into town and wants to go to a show. She's thinking Le Reve. I told her I could buy her tickets so she could have the local discount, which is substantial.

She has heard tell of kiosks on the strip that you can get half price tickets at. True or false? I honestly have no idea. Is it likely she can get tickets to Le Reve at a kiosk for half price day of?

Those kiosks are false advertisement, the various times I've gone to those kiosks...they always show the price for children even though it doesnt say until you get to the window teller. The prices are the same really, you can always try but you'll bump into the same situation.

The half-price ticket kiosks do offer discounted tickets, but I'm not sure they're exactly half off. It does help to know the actual ticket prices before you purchase from a kiosk.

Keep in mind that the shows offered at the kiosks can vary on any given day. I also don't remember any Cirque shows being offered.

I believe the fine print says "up to" 50% off.

Most shows available there are the secondary shows. The retail prices of these shows are artificially inflated so they can be discounted. (So when you pay $29 final price for an impersonator, magician, etc, he was never really worth any more than that.) I doubt you'll find top level shows, though with this economy maybe this has changed.

And yes, it's "up to" half price, plus there's a ticketing fee.
