I have been working a steady job in NV since June 05, I just took a job at a new company. I have never out of work. So I took a new job on Mar 1. I'm curious, should something dramatic happen and I get laid off in say 3 months, if I am still good for full NV unemployment benefits?

The answer matters becuase it impacts the size of the emergency fund we would currently need. Thanks!

suggestion: save as if you wouldn't get them...and IF you get laid off and get full benefits...you can take a vacation (or some other special purchase) with the extra money saved. Like I always told my kids...it's so much better to be prepared and not need it, than to need it and not be prepared.

They look at your most recent job, but sometimes also the job before it. Since you just started the new one they will likely look at the previous one. Four months is the threshold. If you work less than 4 months they look at previous job.

They are checking to make sure you lost your job thru no fault of your own. Quitting one job to go to another is probably a little touchy. Might delay benefits or get them denied.

Be careful listening to advice on this though. There are people who will of course claim such and such happened to them and claim to know what they are talking about. No one can tell you for sure except Nevada Detr.

Four months is a solid rule though and can be looked up easily.

You can have quit the job as long as it
