With the surrounding terrain in mind, is there an area that usually gets more of a breeze than others?

I'm thinking of moving to the SW region (specifically SW or S in Spring Valley) and one person told me the nearby mountains funnel the winds/breeze through the area. I'm seeing this as a good thing.

I tried to find some sort of wind weather map but had no luck.

Thanks

It is not a good thing. What might be a cooling breeze back east is what we refer to as the blow dryer effect. Here you want the least windy area you can find ...only I'm not sure where that is. Also, besides adding to the heat in summer, and cold in winter, you'll want to keep in mind that our air is (and I'll be argued with here by a realtor or two) full of nasty particles that you don't want to breath if you can avoid them.

We've only been here for 5 months and the idea of a "breeze" is just so funny...instead, try the strongest, most relentless wind you've ever felt without it being a tornado, hurricane, or accompanied by any sort of storm conditions. It's frequent and very forceful. You can't really keep anything loose in the backyard...we learned that pretty quickly. I can't wait to feel the wind when it's 106 degrees out

There is no such thing as "breeze" here, but plenty of "wind gust".

Another thing you might want to keep in mind is that the prevailing weather comes mostly off the Pacific out of the southewest. Many times it will be raining cats and dogs in the SW part of town, Henderson, and around Lake Mead, and we won't get any in the NW as it either rains itself out first, or it heads NE and misses us.
