Thanks for the info...that is the area I had guessed. I lived in SoHo for several years in the late 80's...hence the nickname. It was already a desirable area at that point. Since you would be renting I don't see a tremendous risk in trying it...you could always move, but I am skeptical of any area that requires promotion by the city to develop as such. NYC and Las Vegas are NOT comparable IMHO. NYC has always attracked artsy folk from around the globe...Vegas doesn't. When SoHo was an up and coming area it was due to lack of other reasonably safe affordable housing options for those who settled there...Vegas doesn't have that issue. You can find housing in FAR better areas for the same or even less money. I'd love to see this arts district become a reality but I just think it's a marketing tool...pure and simple.

Good Luck, it does sound interesting in a kind of "throw yourself in the fire" kind of way.
