Yes, downtown charges now, for non-players. Valet is your friend on Fremont.

I park at Bellagio most of the time or the wynn beside the beach club. If I want to go to the south end I go to nyny or luxor depending on which part I want to go too.

I like to park downtown at Main Street Station. It used to be easy and often the booth was unmanned, so you didn't even have to pay. But the last couple of times it's been manned, you pay in advance, then you get validated by either eating or playing there. If you're just playing there, you need to have a card and use it. Put points on your card (I think it was 50 points). Go to a B Connected kiosk, swipe your card, enter your pin #, print out a ticket, take it to the cashier's cage and get your reimbursement. Royal PITA.

That's why I like to park for free at any of the valets downtown. No running around. Right at the door.

It is reasonably straightforward. Just follow the signs. We always do valet as I have a limited walking range. In fact we find that they generally accommodate those with a disabled parking pass even when in guest only mode. But on the strip just follow the self parking signs. Downtown valet.

Do I understand this right? Every hotel on the Strip has free self parking garages?
Yes, you understand correctly. Each has free self-parking, and each also has free valet (although a tip is in order).

Yes, the self-parking is identified by signs. Just follow the signs. No, you do not need to use the valet if you don't want to do so.

One thing you can do ahead of time - you can call each of the Strip resort properties, and ask to speak with a concierge. They will be able to answer all of your questions regarding the specifics of self-parking at each property. You can also ask them about transportation among other properties -- most resorts have a free shuttle, and of course the Monorail stops at several of them. You can also ask about walking among the resorts.

Have fun exploring! Maybe post some pics or maybe a few posts about what you've found interesting on the Strip.

Default No Parking at Planet Hollywood

I can tell you where not to park. Planet Hollywood. Really bad navigating thru there and valet parking is full at least half the time. Even for guests.

Never had a problem next door at Paris.

Thanks! I decided to go try it out and I found the self parking to the Luxor. It was a little confusing for some people once you get into the parking garage because they didn't know where to drive and were in the wrong lanes coming at people trying to leave. Their speed bumps are killer on a little car. I was able to find my way to the hotel and casino quickly from the garage.

I went lollygagging around their pyramid for awhile. They have the casino, some shops and buffet on the bottom floor and then most of the entertainment, the wedding chapel, the restaurants and the food court upstairs. T&T (Tacos & Tequila) was the only place to eat that seemed packed. There was also a pearl store where they open an oyster for you and you win pearls. One person won two pearls in one oyster.

I liked the great big Jabbawockeez mask on the wall and the huge outside Titanic display across from it. It was kind of like a museum exhibit. I walked around the Titanic gift shop and a few other novelty item stores there. I almost wanted to buy their Pharaoh head wear and a stuffed camel toy just for fun. They also have the human bodies exhibit, the Criss Angel magic show, the Carrot Top comedy show and I think some sort of female stripper show called Fantasy.

It was easy to find the pathways to other casinos and hotels and their shops but I didn't venture further today. I'd say business was moderately busy this afternoon. There were several wedding parties happening. I counted at least three separate bridal parties with their bride and groom walking around. The pool was also busy. One side was more quiet with people visiting while lounging and the other side had the dance party music. Most of the activity seemed to be on that side with people dancing and drinking together and playing some sort of dance off game.

Also while driving there I saw some kind of protest about keeping Nevada streets safe going on near the Bellagio fountain. The local news was covering it but it wasn't a very big group. Maybe 20 people with signs walking in an oval on the sidewalk. Then I started paying attention to the condition of the roads as I was driving and thought that the Strip needs some repairs along with some of the surrounding roads.

Sounds fun! I love playing tourist at home! Such a great town with so much to see and do. Tonight and tomorrow we have friends playing a couple rock shows in town. Love that I don't have to travel to go to concerts. They come to me!

I know I have said this several times on this forum but have seen no indication that anyone has bothered. For downtown, go into Main Street and instead of going into the self park, go to the right and park under the bridge. Be careful as some of the spaces are for disabled drivers. There is usually a spot and it is free and no validation. It is worth checking out before dealing with the validation crap.....and if it is full, just go to the valet and tip a buck. Been doing that for 20 years now. When I worked downtown, it was very handy!
