Some of the schools in Phoenix spent the better part of a week "rehearsing" for 8th grade graduation. I came from the best, large public school system in the US--no 8th Grade graduation there. I remember thinking to myself, what a joke, you are graduating from 8th Grade due to there being a law that states children under 16 must be in school, and the fact that the schools are more than anxious to get rid of them, regardless of the fact that many can't read, and most can't do simple math calculations. If you actually think that is a notable event--God help us all.

Quixotic, I love your status. I lived the nightmare from Sept. - April of this year. I thought I would die from all the rain.....so depressing. Couldn't wait to get back here.

Enjoy, and hope your daughter enjoys her fun times!

Start saving up now for the high school graduation. Kids nowadays rent suites at the hotels for after their graduation party, limo's to get there, flowers, sometimes they take trips to Disney-California..oye vay

That must be a NY thing
I don't think so. I graduated from Long Island (NY) schools...we had only one graduation...from high school.

Don't you just love it when others move from another area to LV and then complain that it's not like the old area? If they liked how things were in the old area...why'd they ever leave? When in Rome...do like the Romans do.
