What are your opinions about the area around W Charleston and S Durango?

Looking at a few properties in the Park 1 condos at 8600 W Charleston but I looked up the crime stats for the last 60 days in that area and there seems to be a lot of "action" going on. Not sure if that's the norm or abnormal for the area.

Any opinions on the area and how livable/suitable is it for a family looking to rent?

The Park 1 condos have excellent amenities and layouts we like ... just want to make sure it's safe and we won't get broken into (even though it's a gated community).

I think that would be yellow on olecaps map, and real close to the green. Well above average. If you can steal it...... I lived at Lake Mead/Buffalo and it was decent. Some tagging and ghettoness associated with the HS punks and/or the bus stops. A garage would be peace of mind for the auto.

I don't think the area is bad at all...I think the crime numbers may just seem inflated because it's right by a major shopping center. It's not a dangerous shopping center by any means (it's actually quite nice), but you know how things are...even in the nice shopping centers, there's always going to be minor theft, kids loitering around and causing trouble, and so on.

Lake Mead/Buffalo is not close enough to that area, imo to compare. Las Vegas can vary from one intersection to the next.

There are some rougher areas on Charleston especially the more east you go.

I would definitely stay closer to the 215 if I was going to live down on Charleston. I love the area near Red Rock Casino...and you will have plenty of shopping and places to eat.

I would think you will be fine there. The crime will be on the arterial...Charleston in this case. I would expect any internal action to be domestic disturbances mostly...and an occassional car burglary. Don't leave stuff in your car...

It is a pretty convenient location in a lot of ways. And the rents are not bad for the west side.

Crime in Las Vegas

As previously stated, both are solid yellow, and not far from green.
