Silly question from a Canadian, but I really have no idea:

I know I have only been in LV for about a year, but one thing I haven't really noticed is people displaying American flags in their front yard.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen them here and there, but not to the extent of say.....small town, upstate New York where there's a flag on everyone's yard.

Is there some kind of property regulation / HOA rule? Not as Patriotic here?

Also, If I put an American flag and a Canadian flag on my property, would I be drawing unwanted attention to myself / property, or would it be no big deal?

Thanks for listening all.

RM

Rent.....I see no problem with both flags, so long as the American Flag is higher then the Canadian [I assume that it wouldbe the same if you flew both in Canada, whti the Canadian being the highest.

Thanks for the response Dyn. Most definately US flag on top.

People don't usually put flags on their lawn in Canada, so I'm not used to it. But when we used to cross the border around Buffalo or Watertown, NY, we saw that every house had a flag on the front lawn.

I loved it! I wish people were that patriotic back in Ontario.

That's why I'm asking if it would be ok here in NV

Can't tell if that's a joke or not.

If not, you referring to American or other? (I assume the latter)

I generally think people here wouldn't care. It's the vocal minority or HOA you would want to concern yourself with. Most HOA's don't allow flag poles.

And if they do? Well don't forget to submit your application first.

Reminds me of this Medal of Honor recipient a Virginia HOA tried to tell that he couldn't have a flag pole in his yard (http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2009/dec/02/polegat02_20091202-091201-ar-19995/ - broken link).... He still has a flag pole in his yard.

I personally think he should have planted the pole somewhere else

But its true....most people dont do the flag thing much here....probably did in NY cause it was right across the bridge from Canada...I wish we did it more....

Nope...American is still the highest. ('A' comes before 'C')

I fly old glory every day. Today just happens to be flag day interestingly enough.

When I moved into the community none of my neighbors flew the flag. I'm a veteran myself of OIF.

After a week or so I noticed my neighbors flying the flag.
