So I plan on moving to Vegas on the 24th or 25th of this month, I need some help.. This is my first time living on my own and I need to know how many days it would be safe for me to assume that it would take to get an apartment, so I can plan the hotel reservations accordingly. Also, is it reasonable to expect to be able to get a 6 month lease or is 1 year the standard there? I wanted something near the strip but I was told by a friend of a friend who lives in vegas that it's not exactly the safest area, and that something in the southwest would be better, I am not exactly sure what that means, is there an area named southwest? I expect to pay around $900 rent and want a nice place in a safe area. Does anybody know of any sites to look at besides apartments.com, or any websites of actual apartment complexes or whatever? Say, I arrive in Vegas and have a hotel for a few days, what would be the best method to finding an apartment?

I was trying to get some help in my other post but some people turned it into a big argument...

$900 is pretty good. Show me an example of your type of style of living by providing a link of what apartment you've found and are interested.

I's pretty hard to say I know plenty of people who move in the day they arrive and some it can take a couple of weeks. Since your rent minimum is very decent you should have no problem moving in within a day or two.

Any part of the West Side (SW, NW, WEST) is a good area. Just depending how far your work/school will be commute can be really far if you are around the strip.

Thanks for the response, I would be very happy with something similar to this:

1 Bed 1 Bath Apartments in Las Vegas - Belmont Apartments

This is listed as $925 a month, a few bucks cheaper wouldn't hurt but $925 isn't bad.

That's a good area. Go for it unless you will be working in the far north end of the Valley.

OP...you are age 16 or over, right?

If so, and you have some sort of financial background, you may be safest to share an apartment with someone who's been there for awhile. Check Craigslist.com. But make sure you check them out as much as they check you out.

Are any of the complexes on this map in a bad area? The stars are the apartment complexes.

No..No..$900 a month is well above that level. That is what you do at $500 or $600 a month.

Watch your PMs OP. A few that are available in the LVCC which is both safe and convenient to the strip.

SEE ATTACHMENT: Well generally speaking, avoid the East Side, central and North East Side. (I highlighted it in red for you)

The place you chose was in an upscale area. You should be fine down there. However, keep in mind if you work up north it could be at least a 60 minute commute round trip.

Will your hotel have free room service? If so, can I sleep over?
