Lol, thanks for the image of roaming gangs of 8 year olds with bats.

My father jumped right in with a metal lawn chair and all the boys went the hell out of there. My father clearly was able and willing to kill or at least maim. My father was at that point a chubby middle aged executive with few physical skills. But he understood what needed to be done. And he did it.

Then again...you kill a couple? or even maim one? Even if the authorities exonerate you...what next?

Practically the guy did the right thing..
After almost 25 years of dealing with teenagers I feel confident saying this: most children of that age have a skewed view of reality regarding physical confrontations. I believe it is primarily due to the false sense of security engendered by tv, movies, and video games. They are slow to understand that physical contact results in pain. Also, as you pointed out, adult will usually have a stronger sense of purpose.
Having found myself in tense situations with teenagers numerous times, I discovered that conveying your sense of commitment will deter most of them from becoming physical.
There is, however, that minority, who for a number of reasons do not follow the same boundaries. In those cases, inflicting pain is usually a strong deterrent. For the remainder, and they do exist, you must commit fully to, as stated above, doing what needs to be done.

I would still be more than glad to take the job!!

When the bullets from my 9mm make physical contact with their heads, it will result in pain but only for a very short period of time after which they will feel nothing ever again.
