I do....they give us water, trash, sewer, cable and internet for free. However, we have to pay for our own electricity bill. I know it is weird, but that is how it is.

Are you upstairs or downstairs in the unit? That will make a decent difference in electric costs in the summer...

Also 74 is pretty "cold" to keep the apt. We keep out house at 78-80ish and used to keep our upstairs condo at the same temps. Electric bills in the 1100 sq ft condo would go up from about $50 in the winter to $200-240ish in July/August.

Downstairs with only 322 square feet. I am estimating $80-$100 for the summer months.

I believe we're all supposed to get an increase in July, about $5.00 or so.

In this house, last month my bill was $88.80 (for about 2300 sf). The highest for this house ever was $282.00, and the former occupants kept the thermostats on 82 degrees.

This house is a 2 story, my other one is a one story, but that house has the pool pump going 8 hours a day though and had higher bills in July,Aug & Sept. Both of these houses, we've tried to make as energy efficient as possible...dark tint on the windows, light blocking shades, energy efficent light bulbs, attic/garage solar fans, heat resistant surface on the inside of the garage doors, extra insulation in the attics, energy efficient appliances, plugging up the cracks, raising the thermostats when no one is home..etc. etc.

My sis back on the wrong coast, pays $400.00 a month (LIPA) on the budget plan for her electric year round and has never gotten a rebate at the end of the year when her account is reconciled...

In today's paper, Sandoval did a good thing for a politician. I hope it's not just smoke and mirrors though: Sandoval ignored potential backlash and did good by Nevadans - News - ReviewJournal.com

i pretty much figured my electric bill for the month...196.89 Not bad considering last year, it was 320. plus last year i kept the thermostats at 80, this year 76... also did the insulation, new washer & drier (i see the savings as huge with this, especially the amount of detergent being used.. it is so much less now), changed pool pump, tinted windows, and even changed the thermostats (but i haven't programmed them)..

I hate to sound like a commercial for NVEnergy, but honestly, all those little energy efficient things you can do, add up to nice savings every month.

But NVE is still raising our rates to pay for energy conservation programs, lol.
