I was also dismayed to find that Las Vegas did not show these types of movies regularly. Nashville, which is a smaller city, has a multiplex that shows documentaries and indies and there is a small independent theater that also shows art and low budget films as well.

I just saw Incendies.

Huh? You stated why you thought LV couldn't support the showing of independent movies and I refuted each of your points. How is that berating you? Nevermind, don't bother responding. In fact, I'm at a loss to explain why you've posted four times in this thread already since you think that the question was stupid to begin with.

And your strangest post out of the four had to have been your copy-and-paste of the synopsis of the movie I recommended which noted that it was dark, violent and emotional. You added no comments of your own other than to put those three words in bright red ink as if there was something wrong with those themes. LOL.

After that, you don't have to worry about any expectations I might have about your posts.

I found this lack of "outside the box" very discouraging also, specially in a town that has a college.

UNLV lacks that Tempe AZ feel as well of their university. Too much of a commuter college, which sort of makes sense, as most Nevada residents would either live in Vegas already (or Reno).

It's disappointing, but the positives of Vegas/Nevada make up in other ways.

Everyone might want to check out the Las Vegas Film Festival coming up. I've never been before but I'm going this year.

It's too late now, but Groupon had a deal a couple months ago for half off either an all-day pass or VIP all-access pass.

Might be worth signing up in case they have the same deal next year.

^Thanks.

by the way, has anyone here ever gone to one of those concerts or plays that they show in the movies theaters? I have not seen anything that I would die to see, but I constantly see them advertised and was wondering how they were.

As far as I know, Suncoast and the Regal Village Sq are the only two theaters that show independent and/or foreign films. Suncoast probably has the edge, as they always program one or two. I'd suggest checking the libraries, esp. the Clark Cty library on E. Flamingo. They sometimes have series of recently released indies. I have high hopes that the new performance space downtown will program indie films as well. I haven't checked out the LV Film Fest but I very much miss Cinevegas, which was wonderful and unfortunately ran out of money after the 2009 festival.

Get enough people in this thread to pledge a full ticket price to an indie, foreign, cult or classic once a month and the situation may change.
