I'm glad someone asked this question. Many posts on here are quite helpful (and reassuring to one who has meager free time and cash flow after relocating for a new job).

One question: I got an emissions test in New Mexico, where I hail from, just before the layoff and job offer that brought about my move. Do I still need to get a "smog" test from Nevada? It seems to be the same thing, but maybe states have different rules or things to check.

Just curious, as any time and money saved is worth a lot to me right now.

I am driving a company car based out of California. Does it have to be registered here in Vegas when the registered owners are based in California?

So you're saying it is okay to lie to the police officer?

Nevada Vehicles in Business Guide

The DMV doesn't specifically state you need to register it here, but it's implied. Under vehicle registration:

Quote:
Be sure to obtain the proper liability insurance for your vehicle and business use. Proof of Insurance from a Nevada-licensed agent is required for all registrations.

Never - those trucks are also registered in Nevada.

Commercial trucks have plates issued by their "home" or base state, but can also be registered (or "apportioned") in any of the states, and also the Canadian provinces.
