I got a letter from the state, telling me they miss me and to write.
even if its only a check.

How do you feel when you get your bill?

You will think me sick, but I love it.. (No not paying) but the
Amount of the bill makes me do a home owner happy dance.

In NY my property tax is 10x that amount!

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, How true your statement is. There is going to be not tax relief in NYS ever. So! next year off to Vegas I move retiring there. Too bad the Vegas population on the form can not have the fine experience we go through in NYS. YES! our property values have fallen also. We just went through a week of hot humid weather which is just like living here when it is 10 degrees with a wind chill of -20 inside living at least you can go out in the morning or later evening. Enough bitching. I do hope Nevada steps up their information and promotion about retirees moving there. Marketing Vegas as a place to live should be a priority. Lets hope Nevada does not go tax happy like NYS

I was pleasantly surprised. The amount continues to drop, in one case down nearly 40% since purchase two years ago although valuation is stable or even a bit higher. I do think it is a little odd how they chose those four dates for tax dues.

Our CA tax bill is 9x larger than our NV tax bill. Can't wait to get rid of that albatross of a house in CA!

I find this interesting.

Are you comparing apples to apples? What are the (appx.) values of both properties?

Also, what are you getting for your tax dollars? Sure, we pay low taxes here. And casinos subsidize a LOT of our taxes. But our schools still suck. We don't have a lot of parks. And culturally, Las Vegas is still a wasteland*

* I moved here from a island town of 8,000 people. We had better museums, playhouses and even a symphony orchestra.
