Well, at least you wandered in from an entirely different part of the country to revive a five year old thread for something beneficial.

I just went through the irrigation blues. Noticed a lake in the backyard then had a neighbor show up to tell me there was a river coming down the wall in his back yard. I had called my guy who put it in and got no response. I finally shut off the whole thing and was running it manually by turning on the main valve every morning.

I ended up firing the guy ("I was out of town for a week.") Well, I don't care because my irrigation was running for at least 4 days non-stop before I discovered the problem and you never called me back. A one man operation with no one to take your place when on vacation is a no-no.

Went to Starr Nursery, bought a new valve and used it to replace the bad part in my existing valve. Works fine. The part was $8.00 and the whole valve was $16.00. No brainer. Now I have some spare parts.
