Some billion dollar investor/company needs to get in on this. I believe this would be a true money maker. This would be my first stop to show friends and family come to visit. Or maybe even the last for a grand finale.

First time I saw it, I rode it simply because it was unmanned. After my short ride, I felt ripped off.

I agree it should goto the Airport as I totally got ripped entering the city. I think my cab fare was about $45. My fare to the airport was less than $20.

Unfortunately, that turned out to my SIL's final destination as she passed away from a blood clot that moved to her brain. Pretty much killed her on the spot but they kept her alive for about 24 hours for my mom and I to drive down and comfort my brother.

Then the following Monday, I had to drive down to the funeral home which is right across the street from the railroad tracks to pick up her ashes. I got to spend considerable time in town and it's nothing special, got enough amenities but to consider it for a train station is ridiculous.

Of course, anyone who has traveled that stretch as I have to tomorrow knows that the station is on the east side of town so after either waiting however long for a connecting train or spending more money on a rental car that there is still a ton of driving/riding left going through the Cajon Pass and past Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, etc. just to get to either Anaheim or L.A.

With all due respect to Harry Reid, his arrogance in trying to push this through when it will become exactly like the LV Monorail shows how out of touch he is with these situations.

Sorry for your loss, Golfinnova. Scary and sad.

One of my close friends just moved to Victorville from CT. I haven't been there yet to visit. Mostly because when I am in Vegas, she would rather come there! Go figure! She can not find a job and is bored. (her guy's company transferred) She lives on the golf course and that is where she spends her days.

I would like the rail to come out to CH so that I can have some drinks on the Strip and a designated driver! Then again, that could be dangerous for my addictive personality!

We've ridden the monorail a few times. Not impressed. We've spent more time riding the buses over the years. Now we rent an SUV and drive the back roads. Parking is free and the walks aren't too long. If we spent as much time riding the monorail as we do driving we'd probably spend more... and the monorail doesn't go to Red Rock or the Valley of Fire.

They can't even plan for a public bus to go all the way to Red Rock Canyon and the new route being constructed on Sahara Ave stops at Hualapai. You would think local officials would want a public transportation all the way to Red Rock Canyon so the millions of visitors to Las Vegas can enjoy the beauty of Red Rock Canyon and at the same time improve the finances @ Red Rock Canyon. Valley of Fire, goodluck!!!

I'm glad they haven't. Red rock would probably be covered in trash and graffiti if they did that.

Isn't it the Not-in-my-backyard Summerlin residents that have the final say whether or not the bus will be extended to THEIR backyard, and that includes a potential bus route to Mt. Charleston. Again, that's their backyard.
Stay out!!!

I'm willing to bet if some mysterious disease, that only afflicted cab drivers, killed them all tomorrow, the monorail would not only be extended to the Airport and Fremont, but would encompass the west side of the Strip as well, rapido!

I knew a retired cab driver in town here, and when they were having initial "problems" with the monorail (like wheels mysteriously falling off) I asked him about it, and what did he say? One word: sabotage!
