It's only really "hot" from mid-July until the end of August. Usually. But some heatwaves possible from May until early October. In general, I find it pleasant here. And quite frankly, after a few years, you don't even notice it until it gets above 105f.

So far this year, I've used the AC less than 10 times. Usually the evaporative cooler does an adequate job cooling the house -- at 1/10 the price of the central air.

when you pt during red flag conditions, there are guidelines for working out at a certain temperature for a certain amount of days so that your body is used to the heat and exercise, aka acclimatization. living can be like exercising at a couch potato pace. if you run from ac car to ac store to ac car to ac fast food to ac car to ac home and never acclimatize, the heat will feel like something to be afraid of. but if you acclimatize, it becomes nothing but a thing. do it like boiling a frog. spend more time outside mowing the lawn. use a push mower; saves space, you get exercise, and heaven forbid you talk to your neighbor. cut the hedges with a manual shear. go for a walk. drive without the ac and the windows down. before you know it your body is used to it.

I would rep ya f.2 but I gotta spread the love first...
you are exactly right about becoming used to the desert....I bought a work truck a few years ago to drive back n forth....the AC went out on it....they wanted 12 hundred dollars to fix it....so I drove it for 8 years with the windows down and LOVED it

NOW if that had been the heater that brokeI woulda spent the 1200 to fix that.....

I hate heat, but I've survived Vegas for many years without issue.

It's hot, it's annoying, you learn to deal with it. You just have to be smart (plan outdoor activities for early in the morning or after dark, drink lots of water, park your car in the shade, etc.).

This is true. It's generally only bad for a few months. The other 9 months of the year are fine.

This is my first summer here and I agree that it doesn't even feel crazy hot until it's above 105. There is a really big difference between 105 and 110. But I've been enjoying the desert life.

There's a tendon in the leg that if you cut, the frog will not splash oil.
