Steve Wynn opened the Mirage way back on the 90's....my 2ndxwifewhatzername was one of the mai forces behind the hiring of the cocktail waitresses.....they hired ONLY 8's and above....Steve wanted all 10's but they couldnt find that many....and everything was paradise....UNTILL

OL father time and weight gain began to take it's toll....and then the Federal Government stepped in and said "Hey Stevie, ya can't fire em cauise they got fat n old."

Paraphrasing of course cause the Federal Government would NEVER talk to Steve that way.

With all the advertising going on the sides of the resorts hotel towers. Its not going to be long before Vegas looks like the set of Blade Runner in the near future.

The tread I started about Oshea's closing had a link to LVRJ article that said the Imperial Palace will be renamed and rethemed. Any LV insiders have any info on what that will be?

How about a authentic Asian Theme hotel, and no the Imperial Place doesn't count?
Or perhaps a Southern Country style hotel (like Opryland or Branson like)?

I would be TOTALLY in favor of this -- if nothing else but concentrate all the hicks, rubes and rednecks in one location. Maybe then they wouldn't be at the next table over at Bouchon, complaining loudly about the price of steak frites.

"It's steak and FRIES, you frog-eatin' surrender monkey! How y'all get away chargin' $35 for steak and fries? I kin get a steak at Publix for $4. An' tater tots ain't worth much more than a buck. It ain't worth no $35 no matter how you grill it. And don't you have any DECENT beer? What the hell is a Kronenbourg 1664? Why don't y'all sell Pabst?"

Do they really say Pabst? I figured they wouldn't be able to pronounce Pabst and would just say PBR.

Ok, don't laugh, but I always thought Vegas should have a 100% adults only erotic casino. Children strictly forbidden. Why hide the fact that this is Sin City and just roll with it? Topless waitresses (pasties?), clothing optional pools, shows like Zumanity x10, sexy/plush restaurants with private booths. I imagine the decor could be something along the lines of "Eyes Wide Shut," with masquerade masks encouraged. They could name it "Eros" and play up the sensuality of it without getting too sleazy. I bet it would draw thousands.

...or maybe I'm just a pervert.
You'd have a hard time getting that by the County Commissioners.

It seems to me that the famous city/country themes work well. Which cities don't we already have? The Asian idea is probably a good one as long as they don't just insult Asians. Or how about a Cirque du Soleil theme? That would probably not get old fast. The original MGM Grand (now Ballys) made you feel like you were in a James Bond Movie. After the fire, it never recovered that ambiance.

Has the western/desert theme been done to death? Anyone ready for a remake of the Dunes? The Sands? El Rancho Vegas? The Desert Inn? How about The Matterhorn? Make it look like the mountain from outside, and inside make it look like the inside of a mountain, and make it so people feel like it's so cool they don't want to go back out in the heat.
