Ok. So to be honest... Im a midtwenties female currently residing in NC and have been looking to move to a new location. At first I was going to stay in state and move to Charlotte. But I think I've decided to try my luck out in Vegas for a few months. Worse comes to worse, I'll have lost a few thousand, my dignity and pride, and right back where I started.

Forunately, I'm not completely blinded I have been doing my research. I realized no matter how many stupid jobs I apply to online, unless I have a local zipcode, they really could give a damn or a call back for that matter.

I understand that good looks are a perk but will not be the basis of any hire unless you are a stripper. haha. With the unemployment rate in Vegas at a ridiculous 12%, I have almost siked myself out of trying to move now. I currently work a front desk job and bartend on the side part time 2 days a week in NC in a beach/tourist area. Although I have found a few places in Vegas to live that are in my price range, my biggest concern is a job.

I've been sending out a resume everyday for a few weeks now. Desk jobs. Craigslist. Hotels/casinos. Leasing agents. You name it. Should I just take this as a sign? I'm getting mixed opinions. Some people say just do it and try it out, others say, you're just gonna return home with muchless than what you started with....

What do you guys think? Tips? I've read through alot of this forum but many threads are outdated...

You said it yourself.
It's almost impossible to get a job here unless you live here.
Your young---give it a shot.
Be warned though.....it ain't any easier once you get here.
Jobs are hard to come by.

yah... I think the initial thought of moving there I had my blinders on. But the more forums I read. And the more researching I do. about getting your cards for casino work, layoffs, clubs closings, I'm getting my panties in a wad.

I guess my only bet is to save up until then and hope it works out. Everyone keeps saying you just gotta get out there and show your face and your odds have gone up. *crosses fingers*

When did it become that degrees are nothing more than a waste of time? So sad since I'm still paying off loans.

Assuming you are referring to college & a traditional liberal arts degree...

There is a big difference between education and training. Education prepares you to be a better citizen; training does something very different.

That's why schools offer "sex education" to 13 year olds rather than "sex training."

hahaha. damn I'm not in NC anymore huh? That gives southern hospitality a run for its money.

And about the schooling: 4 yrs in a university and I still make less than a barista at starbucks? ****, if that's the starbucks wage, does anyone know if they are hiring out there? haha.
