Those things are the new health craze--the ultimate anti-oxidant. They will start falling off the trees after a while.

If by 90s you mean the 1490s then you would be correct. Humanity has been sucking down pomegranates for a long long time.

Also, try breaking them up in a large bowl of water. the seeds will sink and the shell will float. Separate and enjoy.

Persephone was munching on them in Greek mythology, so maybe 1490BC would be more accurate. (But I'll bet we've been eating them since before we started standing on hind legs.)

Pour THAT juice through a colander. I actually prefer the "second runnings" to the straight juice. It's light and refreshing.
That sounds like a lot of work. I'll just take the pills!

yes it was...

Persephone was the daughter of Demeter (the goddess of agriculture and fertility) Hades (god of the underwold) saw Persephone and immediatly fell in love and kidnapped her via chariot to the darkest depths of the underworld.

Persephone cried and cried in the chambers of Hades and refused to eat. (anyone who eats the food of the underworld can never leave again) When Demeter leared her daughter was gone she was so upset the crops shrivled and died.

Nearly a week went by and finally Persephone unable to bear her hunger ate 6 pomegrante seeds. Hermes hearing she ate 6 seeds struck a deal with Hades and Demeter (and Persephone) that she would spend 6 months on earth with her mother but then would have to spend 6 months as the queen of the underworld.

It is said that Demeter makes all the flowers blossem in the spring to welcome her daughter back to the world and each fall when she returnes to the underworld Demeter cries and lets all the crops die until her daughter returns again.
