All have commuter rail. Yet smaller metro areas.
This argument is so ridiculous I had to point out these facts about the above places that are smaller and have light rail.

Nashville projection half of actual ridership - It was not really wanted, it was forced upon them, and now only 800 people a day ride it. I am sure the tax money was worth it for those 800 people in a city of 1.6 million metro.

Albuquerque Rail Loses $10 Million a Year, Other Projects Suffer Because of It - The city cannot take care of other transportation issues because of the money pit their light rail is.

Salt Lake City built it because of the Olympics, otherwise they probably do not get the funding. There is an entire website dedicated to the mismanagement of that system and the tax money that has been wasted.

San Jose had problems even before the economic collapse

Those examples probably aren't helping your argument. Have any more places where light rail helped save a city of less than 2 million metro that does not have traffic problems?

New Haven is in a corridor where it makes sense where the entire region is densely populated and the destinations are not car friendly. Comparing Las Vegas to a city where people are commuting to the 4th most populated city in the world is not a comparable situation.

Like I said you win. Stay in your auto dependent dump in the desert. Keep your ~16% unemployment. Keep your rock gardens and green-less lawns. Keep your lack of culture and sports. Keep your lack of education. Keep your lack of public transit. Keep your half finished developments. Keep it all. Let Las Vegas suffer further. Enjoy the "Entertainment Capital of the World" while it lasts because soon enough cities like Macau (which has a light rail system under construction) will steal all your casinos away. The valley is losing its competitiveness. But if the residents dont care then ay they dont care.

None that of that is true and you have skipped the huge redevelopments that are going up along each of those systems. Transit / Rail only requires a small subside compared to Roads and Airports , its usually half or less for most systems.

YOur kidding right. He references a whole set of news stories and you immediately point out that to be untrue.

You really have to do better than that. Why you might be a liar!
