I was wondering if it would be negative if a house in Whitney Ranch backs up to a wash with the mall on the other side?

Would this be a flood hazard?
Would the water attract animals or insects? Snakes? Termites?

Is there access to walk over the wash from this neighborhood to get to the mall?

Is the 515 fwy too close as far as noise also Stephanie Rd?

Agents are telling me that the approach pattern for the airport is over Whitney Ranch. Maybe not such a good idea.

Looks like it's about 4 miles out, directly on final to 25L/R.

I wouldn't want to be near a wash. If West Nile virus becomes the problem here that it is in Arizona, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a water source. (That isn't teeming with larvae-eating fish.)

Default Well I live in

South Valley Ranch which is only a stones throw from Whitney Ranch and I have air traffic overhead from around 6am-11/midnight. Thursday/Friday/and Sunday are the heaviest days. As for having a wash, I don't recommend living near one. I have one running up the back road of my home ( Weisner Way) and we don't get a ton of mosquitoes but lots of black midges and flies. Makes throwing open the french doors we installed when we bought the house back in 2004 near impossible. I have to call City of Henderson once or twice a year to come and clean it up, as it sometimes gets neglected. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Someone else bought the house anyway.

hi guys I went to see a house in Aliante's prominence community. Behind the house is the wash but it's kind of far away and down there. You guys still don't recommend it huh? Don't live anywhere near the wash?

I started this post before I bought a home.

The main deal breaker for me was being on the approach path for the airport.

Been renting here for about a year now and there's a TON of air traffic going just hundreds of yards over my place EVERY single minute of every single day of every single ... well, you get the point! It doesn't bother me as much as when I first moved in, but I would not EVER buy a house here and not just because of the air traffic but also because I think Green Valley has way much more potential. Just my $.02

PS. What's a "wash"?! hahaha seriously! How do I know if I live very close to one? I don't have a lot of mosquito problems... this entire year I had to hire someone to spray my place only once and that was because we had a few bugs showing up here and there--that one time spray took care of it (who knows, maybe the jet noise bothers the bugs so they stay away from my neighborhood!).
