Anyone know how easy it is to fix a pool that the previous owner has filled with sand? Cost is it possible to even take all the sand out to get the pool functional again?

Depends on what they did prior to filling it. The correct way to fill a pool is to punch holes in the bottom to allow for drainage- if they did that, you'll spend quite a bit repairing the concrete shell. They may also have cut out all the piping that typically runs around the pool under the decking, so that would need to be replaced. At a minimum you're looking at a full re-plaster job, and if they took out the equipment, you'll drop a grand or more on new pumps/filters/controls.

Had a friend bought a house and th eprevious owners had fille dint he pool with dirt and were growing flowers on it... He decided to clean out the pool and after him and his buddies did that he found out it would cost more than it was worth to repair all the things.. He had a contractor come out and put a curved wide stairway from the shallow end toward the deep end and had a Hot Tub put down there...Now they can enjoy the Hot Tub and away from prying eyes.... They even grill down there and have a patio table....

If you have cats, it would make for a great litter box!

Are you certain about the depth? I suppose it's possible, but I've never heard of a pool that deep at a private residence.

I have seen one such pool but it had a cliff so you could dive in from about 25 feet.

I can't think of a good reason to fill it in to eight feet. It will cost you a few bucks when you fill it. And you might want a slightly bigger pump when filter it but it should not do anything bad.

I think I would just let it be. Filling it and replumbing and all has to go to the 10 to 20 grand level. And I don't see what you would buy for that money.

Take up teaching scuba. 20 feet is more than enough depth.

Best pool is a sand filled pool. They're just a hole in the ground you pour money into, unless you really love to swim all the time.
