But, seriously, I appreciate your honest post.
Yeah, it could be a pro I guess, I dont particularly mind 110 degree heat (but its a dry heat lol) but you have to go to pools or sit in ac all day since no beaches nearby...trip to san diego or long island is ideal in august from vegas...It's beautiful in feb-april here..also beautiful from in oct-nov..great for hiking or going to mt charleston if you feel like it

Thanks, glad I could be of some help...let me know if you have any other questions.

I've never lived near a beach that wasn't a lake, so to me not having a beach nearby is a non-issue. I've actually not been to the ocean since I was a child, so I can't possibly miss it. I spend summers at a waterpark where I live now. Hey they are putting in a wave pool, there's my beach!

Every place has the "cons" Las vegas doesn't hold a exclusive to them

But I found that a place is what you make of it, you seek negativity and it finds you.
If you are open and friendly, other open and friendly people meet you.
I have met all my neighbors, got a job, had great people work on my house
and I am not even THERE yet (full time)

Open yourself to opportunity, and it will come knocking

Yes, every place has cons for sure...But it is telling that there are so many locals casinos here...what locals are out gambling all the time at the blackjack tables i dont get it, I guess retirees...I also get approached by bums and derilicts outside albertsons or smiths, but thats just a product i guess of shopping in maryland parkway and not in a nice area....
Well said...You're a great example of the good side of Vegas that a lot of people dont see! You obviously agree with me that it's what you make of it...
its great you have found a job and met people, it definitely can and is done, but you have to put the effort in...Its like anything else, you have to have your eyes wide open and be positive and good things will happen.

Nice, you will definitely not miss not having the ocean then! I guess I was spoiled growing up near one, but I dont miss it a lot except like one or two months a year and there are tons of good pools to hang out at for locals...M, gvr, red rock....lol yeah wave pool, thats kind of a beach the waves simulate the ocean.

i'm hoping to find a great waterpark wherever I end up moving. I really will miss "my" park with all the waterslides, big pool with swim up bar, comfy lounge chairs for sunning, lazy river, and soon-to-be-completed wave pool. All for $100 a season.

There will be a wave pool to the right in this shot. This pic was taken from one of the super high stright-down-drop waterslides

Las Vegas is not my "home" because there are currently no jobs available in in my line of work. In fact, they may even be laying off. I would like to someday, possibly in the next few years, move to Las Vegas though. Not because I like the party atmosphere, but because the properties in Las Vegas are way cheap and standard of living there seems low as well, compared to California where I live now. I would probably not be able to ever buy and own my own house in CA, but I could easily do it in Las Vegas, if I had a solid job. Also I love the desert environment, the scenery, and the 80% a year of sunshine. I don't like the rain and snow. I understand that it does get hot there in the summer but thats only for a few months and most the time I probably will be doing something that keeps me out of the sun. I did look at at few houses the last time I was there over in the southwest arear along Blue Diamond Road. New houses for around 100,000 dollars. Thats pretty decent. Lets see how long the prices stay that low. I don't think there is much indication that the economy is getting better in the Las Vegas, so I think it may take a few years so I have time to decide what I want to do.
