Does anyone have first hand knowledge of these condos and the area they are in. What is the construction like and the amenities along with the grounds. If it were to be used as a second home would it be suitable or can someone suggest another complex.

Although I do not live there, we drive by them a lot and the area is excellent. Definitely a good choice.

I looked at them when I was shopping around in the summer of '09. I liked the units - particularly the three bedroom units that had enormous garages (not all of them come with garages). The construction was on par with most all the other townhomes/condos I looked at (many). My recollection was there was some pending construction litigation. That said, I wouldn't let that alone scare you off. My experience back then was ~75% of the complexes I looked at had pending litigation. I was informed by both the realtor and another owner within the complex that the HOA runs a very tight ship. I'll let you decide if that's a positive or negative. Lastly, I'd exercise some caution with the lower units. I looked at a couple of the lower units and while I was in them I could hear the upstairs occupants walking around.

They are converted apartments with with apartment code sound isolation. So, don't expect it to be super quiet against noises coming from neighbors even if you live upstairs.

I looked at upstairs units as well and my recollection is that I didn't hear the occupants below. The noises I heard while I was in the lower units were for the most part limited to footsteps overhead. I made that observation to the realtor that was showing the units. She mentioned that the upstairs units were not allowed to install hardwood or laminate because of the noise issue - they had to remain carpeted. I could still hear people lumbering about though.

What about fire walls(between units), are they required?

Most condo HOAs have the rule about carpeting upstairs, yet I still see upstairs condos listed with photos showing hardwood, laminate flooring or tile in violation of rules.
People will just do it and hide it from the HOA or claim they didn't know about the rule or that their doctor said they needed hardwood floors because they have a carpet allergy.
You won't know if other noise is controlled well unless you have the neighbors to the side and below turn on their tv and stereo to a reasonable level and see if the sound comes through to that unit.
