Yeah, I've mentioned it before & thought about adding it to this thread.

It's probably our buffet of choice in Las Vegas. Now, that doesn't mean it's the best - but it's the best VALUE. (Station Casinos have some good deals for locals, too, but IMHO the quality's not as good at the ones I've tried.) All things considered, Bellagio or the Wynn would be preferable. Given that they're so expensive & my fiancee's so petite (so a buffet's not a great option), we tend to not go to buffets very often. When we do, it's usually the Rio. She likes some of their food options that remind her of home as well as some of the desserts (they have a good Mango sorbetto - and others - for example). Their made-to-order Oriental section is good & they always have sushi available (not great sushi, mind you, but it's palatable - mostly simple rolls). I like that they have a higher than average number of seafood items available overall as well.

We go just before it switches from Lunch to Dinner pricing (around 3 PM, think it switches over at 3:30 PM). Lunch used to run between $8-9 with a players card & local ID. It looks like they've raised prices a little, so Lunch is now $18.99 with players card ($21.99 without) before discount. That would make it about $9.50 with local ID. Dinner is $26.99 with player's card & $29.99 without before discount, so in theory you could get dinner for $13.50. By the time we get there late & pay lunch prices, tho, we get all the dinner stuff anyways. On the right nights, that means crab lebs & a good carving station. Given that it's $9.50/person & I have comps to use, it's a no-brainer for us. If I was paying $21.99 for lunch as a non-local without a players card, I'd feel differently. The Rio buffet is decent, but not what it used to be & definitely not worth me paying $21.99 of my own money for lunch - then I'd be trucking over to Bellagio or Wynn.

Hope this helps, it's definitely a good buffet but not a great one - the locals discount makes a BIG difference. I think they allow it for all meals during the week but exempt Sunday brunch from the locals discount - you'd have to check with them to be sure.

With your Club card and cash, you can have the seafood buffet for 18.99 a person. They had salmon that will slice up for you.

Wow, I ate there just last week on seafood night too with a buy one get one free coupon in the mail...

It was the worst buffet I have ever eaten...just horrible, so bad that if I got another 50% off coupon in the mail, I wouldn't bother using it.

Just terrible.

The reviews on Yelp appear to cry out similar sentiments, is there more than one buffet at the Palms perhaps...?

No, just one, which some would say is one too many.

I am thinking that poster is actually a teenager or younger. No one in their right mind would think the Excalibur buffet was good. *blech*

If it was anything like the meal I once had at Tournament of Kings...I would have to agree.

It's not that cheap, we went to the Excalibur buffet maybe 6 months ago for lunch. It was $15 each and felt like we were in a 1980's helps hall. Most of the food was inedible. The best thing we could find were the mini corn dogs. Absolutely terrible.
