Has anyone ever been to these condos? I saw something about a bankruptcy on google, but couldn't really find much information. The condos and property look really nice in the pictures and are in a great location....looks like Tropicana and MGM are 1-2 blocks away. I'm only going to be renting, not buying, and want to be near the strip. Also looked at Sky and Allure. Panorama/Turnberry are out due to their pet policies. I saw a couple units listed for $1000-1400/month. Any input?

That post doesn't really tell me anything. The entire strip is in the "bad area" on the crime map, which I assume would include Sky and Allure too. Is this place in Ghettoville USA or what?

No, It is a small area in land mass that is occupied by about 1 million people everyday and probably 1.5 million on any Friday and Saturday. When you have the many people in that small an area and you mix in 24/7 cheap alcohol and a party atmosphere, things are going to happen. But the chances of anything happening to any one person are very very small. Although we do not live near the strip, I have been here all my life and never been a crime victim other than a broken car window once. Most of what goes on around the strip are fights which are reported as assaults, drunks being rolled by street walkers, DUIs and such. Once in awhile somebody gets shot. But keep in mind that, while they count these as crimes, they do NOT count the millions of visitors and transients that populate the strip making the official "crimes and accidents per 100,000 residents" look really much worse than it really is.

That's what I figured, I just don't want to be a street corner full of crackheads and prostitutes.

Has anyone here ever looked at the actual units at Onyx?

Well I won't kid you in that there are plenty of street walkers around and a fair amount of light drug (marijuana) use around the strip. But the street walkers don't bother you unless you are looking for one. Every once in awhile Metro will do a sweep and pick them up but a few days later they are right back out there. The money is too good for them to pass up I guess.

I don't care about the weed smokers at all. It's the people cracked out of their minds willing to do anything for another hit that I'd be more worried about.

Well, in that case, you need only worry about the people addicted to gambling!
