When we arrived in Las Vegas Christmas night we got the last car Dollar rental had. Everyone in line behind us was sent to their destination by taxi. The agent told us the other rental companies had be sold out for weeks for this week and that they were expecting 400,000 visitors for NYE.

We ended up with a Suburban. I'm lucky my flight wasn't late.

Latest numbers seem to be in the 320K region, on par with last great year, 2007. And Orlando, FL has been overrun with tourists, much worse than Vegas.

Airics, I did say TRY bidding on that. And since no one has tried we won't know, will we? Yes, I am reading all the news you are, maybe much more than you do, and I've seen stranger things happen. Howard Johnson's on the strip was listing $79 for NYE night as of yesterday by that same press you are referring to, not that bad if you ask me.

Anyway, Happy New Year!

So Howard Johnson's is now on the strip. They built that quick... Think it's next to Caesar's

1401 Las Vegas blvd so....which is NOT the strip....sorry wine dude you lose again

The STRIP begins at Sahara ave and runs south....it was so named because the first casinos[El Rancho and the Last Frontier Village followed by Bugsies joint] OUTSIDE of the downtown area were built "on that STRIP of LAND out south of town."

The street from Sahara Ave NORTH to FREMONT STREET is LAS VEGAS BLVD SOUTH..[formerly 5th street] At Fremont Street it becomes LAS VEGAS BLVD NORTH until it PASSES Nellis Airplane Patch.

ALSO.....nowhere does a street called FREEMONT exist.
