Thanks for the post. That's reassuring to hear. I'd hate to move 2400 miles to find the same kind of situation we have here in Florida.

No his breaking the law in the first place is to blame and his attitude probably made things worse.

There's an estimate 20,000 night shift workers in Las Vegas, falsely labeled a 24-hour city, where we sleep, like myself, from 10am to 6pm, and just the opposite of dayshift workers, we're at our peak at around midnight, wishing we could walk our pets in a neighborhood park. Blatant discrimination I call it! We help pay for those parks, and we can't use them when we wish???

My ferret is also nocturnal, he panicks if I take him out during the daytime, and in the summer, being they're heat sensitive, I only walk him in the coolest hours of the day, between 1am-5am.

Can't walk in the parks, fine, then we'll just confine ourselves to our walks on the Las Vegas Strip (to the casino's with the most amount of grass/vegetation) and my grassy neighborhood in the central area.

As per Hendrson, and my incident that night, and knowing the reputation of Henderson Phoenix-style cops, I actually called the Henderson Police Dept. before I went out there. The woman I talked to said there shouldn't be a problem, if so, the police officer will tell you to move on!

Well, well! This in-my-face-cop told me: You were given incorrect information and I can give you a fine!

While I know there are two sides to every story, I'm with you. Why should they care what time you walk your ferret? What could you possibly be hurting? Cops have always been supressive a$$hole control freaks, but it's really out of hand these days.

According to this article Henderson, NV second safest city in US.
Some good news for the Las Vegas Metro area,
I was surprised it was that high but it is a safe place for the most part. I cannot think of any place here I would be scared to walk in.

I will explain this in a clear, frank and not politically correct way. Henderson is safe mainly due to the demographics here. We have few minorities and most of them are Hispanic. There are very few blacks that live here and the few that do are mostly professional or blue collar types such as firefighters and cops that are not prone to violence and criminal activity. I do not want this taken the wrong way. In no way am I saying black=criminal. But when you have high concentrations of blacks, bad things usually follow. In Henderson they are spread out among the overwhelmingly white population. We don't have a "ghetto" or an area specifically reserved for minorities. That makes a big difference.

"I do not want this taken the wrong way, but what follows is an unattractive and racist 'observation'".
