I am looking to buy a house in Vegas and was looking for a good area. I need a large garage and saw a few deals there. I was mainly wondering what areas to avoid. I heard that near the Nellis base is not a good area. I haven't been to vegas in 11 years and I heard that North Las Vegas was bad. I don't have a ton of money to work with. Are the older houses near the strip considered a good area? I saw a lot of newer homes on the east side near the base and below it but I have never been to that area and would like to know more. I am unable to spend much time in the City for awhile. Any guidance would be much appreciated. I will probably have an alarm system but don't want to worry about burglaries and vandalism.

There is a map in my picture collection of the good, bad and ugly areas to live in Vegas.

Study it.

Sorry about that. Green is the best, Red is the worst. Yellow is right below Green followed by Orange.

Green-
Yellow-
Orange-
Red-

I saw your post and thought I could chime in a little. We too are moving to Vegas this summer. My husband is going to out at Cheech so we wanted to be in the North West. Our criteria is to have a 3 car garage and a large lot size.
This saturday we made our 3rd trip to Vegas for house hunting. We finally found a house we love and put a check down to say it's ours. It's in Providence, a NW master planned community. It had everything we are looking for as far as the house goes, plus the 2 things I mentioned above. Our neighborhood is called Kensington. I think it's going to work out great and am so excited.
I did consider Summerlin and even Aliente. Summerlin would have added to my dh drive. Aliente was too close to North Las Vegas. We looked at a house over there. My dh LOVED it but I was just too nervous with the area and how close we were to the not so good part.

Good luck in your search.

Hi Von,

Even though we've decided on Centennial or Summerlin, I'd like to check out this map - how do I find it please?

Thank you!

Jessey
