Honestly, I don't think it is the place. People in high school and college tend to make friends very easily. Once out of college and working and young it is still pretty easy. As you enter your late 20's and early 30's people start to pair off, get married, settle down and start families. Raising a family, juggling careers and making time for each other consumes every minute of the day and lots of friendships fall by the wayside. In your 40's you have your nose to the grindstone, are dealing with teen kids, their activities etc. Finally, in your mid 50's, your kids are grown, you have relaxed and realize that you miss socializing and then you start seeking out friends again. It is pretty much that way everywhere. So it may not be because you live here. It may just be the life stage your age bracket falls in. I agree with others here. Do some meet ups, join a club, go to church if you are spiritual. don't give up everything have, which is plenty compared to many in these economic times. Make it work here. :P

I would not live anywhere I don't want to live. I did that in the service and I was put in Georgia and I hated it for the most part.

At some point most men have no problem being left alone. You say you have money, well them travel. Go to Calif. for a weekend. I think it sounds great to move back home but you moved away for a reason. Those reasons will come back top light as soon as you move back.

There's an old saying which says you can never go back home again and it's true.. Plant your roots and get out a meet women. Something you will find is women are out looking for a man. Go to Brazil for a short vacation..

I think you should do the online dating thing. Only because it worked out so great for me.

I was lonely as hell until I met my boyfriend (7 years ago). I dated online for a little over 2 years before we met and it was worth it! I can count on one hand the number of arguments or disagreements we have had in the past 7 years. He is my best friend and I am very lucky to find someone at my age (50).

We never would have met if we would not have sought out each other online. I sort of keep to myself and so does he. So where would we have met??

Hmmm, I have considered this and never tried it. i am not lonely, but I would love to meet new people and at some point meet my "second half quarter back". My son's dad was the love of my life, but he is gone, so now it is time to meet the man I will spend the second half of life with. What sites are good for Las Vegas locals?

I don't know about Vegas sites, in particular. I still live in Texas (planning to move to Vegas) but any of the dating sites would allow you to filter your results to a certain amount of miles from your residence. Thats how I did it. I live WAY out in the country so I searched for people in the nearest large city which was Houston.
