What online papers/websites/etc do locals use to keep up with all the events going on in Las Vegas? You guys have a plethora of things to do. How in the world do you keep up with everything going on?

Festivals of ALL kinds/conventions/strip events and shows/local activities/and 100s of things I am leaving out. It's overwhelming. This along with the outdoors and weather is why we're are moving here soon.

The more I research online, the more stuff i find by the day. So what websites is a catch-all for all things Las Vegas?

Thanks for the input as always!

You find the stuff you like and look for it just like in any other city. If your favorite artist is touring, then you look up the dates for when they are coming to Las Vegas. I could care less if the Oakridge Boys or Comic Con are in town, but someone else might be foaming at the mouth to see them. It's all out there.

I understand where you are coming from, but im from a city size of 500,000 in Alabama. Other than the music I like to see and bars and such I enjoy going to, I'm green as to whats out there as far as everyday events.

I did however find a couple websites such as lasvegasweekly and vegas4locals, so Im headed in the right direction. I basically just want to stay busy any time Im not working.

The two Las Vegas newspapers are The LV Review Journal, and the LV Sun, with the RJ having by far the largest readership. My main objection to all the papers is that they don't publish what is coming to town well enough in advance for people to make plans. But that's probably not the fault of the paper, it's probably those doing publicity for the event.

When you come here you will also see tons of advertising on TV, Radio, Billboards, internet, etc.

I use http://www.lvol.com/events/concerts.html (http://www.lvol.com/events/concerts.htmlfor - broken link) for concert listings, as well as just listening to the radio and seeing billboards and marquees.

I'm pretty-well wired into the food scene, so I don't need any help there.

News, I'm all over the map. I used to get the R-J, but they're so far off the deep right end, that I find the paper annoying. And it wasn't worth it just to get the Sun, which is left of center. So I read both online.

I pick up Las Vegas Weekly and Citylife at the grocery stores. I also have a bunch of Las Vegas hiking guides, travel guides and similar for things to do around the area. (For instance, I only recently learned we have a lot of hot springs nearby. Most of them are difficult to get to, but it's something worth checking out.)

You don't. Its almost impossible to keep up with every single thing going on while maintaining a life or family. But that's the beauty of it. You take advantage of what you can and save the rest for another day. It could be tomorrow, next week, month or in my case...3 years. Been living in Vegas for 36 months now and there are casinos on the strip/down town that I have not been to yet. There are also plenty of shows on my list of things to do.

Even though I love music I never am able to keep up with my favorite artist's concerts. If I can make it I will, If I cant...I will catch them next time...they always come back.

Its not like any show, casino, MMA event, concert, fountains(still have not seen those) or anything else is going anywhere.

Good info. I just learned something also. When people ask about the culture in Vegas, I can just point them to the magazine dedicated the local culture.

Las Vegas Weekly

Quote:
This alternative weekly focuses heavily on culture and the arts, with a liberal bent on political and cultural issues.
I didn't know that that was the magazine's primary focus.
