I was terminated at my old job, and then my ex gf abandoned me.and said the lease was my problem and then I got evicted. I found this room for rent in Summerlin for $400 a month and considering where it was located and the affordability I jumped on it. I always wanted to live in Summerlin so I seized the opportunity

I dont think I'm better than anybody because of my address. I also chose Summerlin because I genuinely love that community

I agree. Sun Coast is a basic casino, nothing very special...it's ok. Rampart does cater to the older crowd, for sure. Small. If you are just looking for a drink, ok, but if you are looking to party, you are better off at RR for your age group.

I don't mind them, we have them in MI, but there are so many jerks that don't know what they are doing that it IS scary! One bad part is when you are a person trying to exit from a side street. No light to stop the traffic. But, yes, they do keep the traffic flowing.

Aw, c'mon Davie. Barring numerous traffic accidents that close multiple intersections along the way, what you've written is simply not possible.

You used to complain about traffic when you lived on the east side of town, including spending ungodly amounts of time at red lights, and I never said anything because frankly I know next to nothing about the east side. But I routinely drive up and down Flamingo and in two years I've never run across anything like what you're describing.

Davie, you're going too far out of your way by taking the Summerlin Parkway-to-95-to-15 route. I used to live in the Paseos, just west of where you are now, and if you're going to the Strip, it's much quicker taking the Beltway south to Flamingo, then Flamingo east to the Strip. I've tried both, and it's no contest. Traffic on Flamingo is rarely if ever a major issue.

You'll like that part of Summerlin. I loved living there.

-I'm still convenient to the 215 even though I am further from work, there is NEVER any traffic congestion on 215

-I now go to the Red Rock instead of Santa Fe or Aliante Stations when I go out

-The strip is still 20 miles away, as is Henderson and the east side of the city.

-I love the convenience to the shopping (Best Buy, 2 Albertsons, 2 Vons, Target, Smiths, etc) even though I have yet to utilize them. I love the look of that Smiths on Charleston and Hualapai

-All the restaurants nearby are great too and so are the casino choices. Anybody have opinions on the Suncoast and Rampart Casinos?

-There is a noticeable temperature difference between Summerlin and the strip/Henderson of about 3-8 degrees (more noticeable on COLD nights)

-I LOVE the views, especially at 215 and Summerlin Pkwy and heading down that 6% grade on 215 between Lake Mead and Cheyenne

-Red Rock Canyon is just a 5 minute drive if that (Im off Charleston and Vista Center) I plan to drive the scenic loop down to Blue Diamond soon

I have to say I really love living in Summerlin and am glad that God blessed me with the opportunity to live here and finally get fulfill my dream of living in Vegas at least a little bit. Now I need to start making more money in my car sales

-One last thing I love about Summerlin, NO ROAD CONSTRUCTION! Im really loving that

The negatives of Summerlin
-Groceries seem to cost about 5-10% more
-Gas costs about .10 more per gallon
-Charleston gets pretty congested sometimes
-If I want to drive to the strip its still 20 miles away just like CH
So you own or rent a house in Summerlin?

We used to live near Hualapai/W.Sahara. It would only take 20 minutes to get to the Strip going down Sahara. And this was with lots of traffic.
Face it: Summerlin has a lot of traffic as well as Green Valley. You have to get to know the surface streets like most of the locals do. That way you can cut down your commute to anywhere in the valley and use that extra time that you would have used driving there, to actually getting to your destination and having fun.

I think for living full-time that Centennial Hills is awesome. Newer homes, newer shopping centers and the view of the mountains is awesome. For a 2nd home or vacation home and coming up the 15 Fwy, I'd highly suggest Summerlin area. After hours on the road, you want to get home and not have another 15-20+min drive to after you pass the strip on the way to Centennial Hills.

I guess it dependsupon where in Summerlin you're traveling. I find virtually no traffic south of Charleston. I routinely leave Spanish Trail, take a left on Trop for two miles until I hit Summerlin, and then it is a relaxing, scenic ride up Town Center until its time to turn left into Red Rock Resort. There's virtually never any traffic on Town Center for the entire 4 mile trip from Red Rock down Town Center until it becomes Trop. And there's never any traffic on Trop until you're down to Grand Canyon or Ft. Apache, long past the time you exited Summerlin.

There's even less traffic in Summerlin if you take Hualapai south to Hacienda or even Russell.
