I can't keep up with this board!

I'm planning my next visit in the spring, and plan to use some of that time to scout out some areas to see if LV is where I want to move in a year or so.

Here's a question for ya...

What is something that is a must see if I have already seen the "typical" must see stuff in Las Vegas? I've been up and down the strip, Fremont Street, Hoover Dam, the Atomic Bomb Museum...is there something I shold put at the top of my list to do? I will have a car so that's not an issue.

I plan to be there for a long weekend.

You say you have been up and down the strip.

How many times? Have you been in every casino? Experienced every show? Ate at every restaurant? Attractions?

Check out Lake Las Vegas if you want to relax and have a nice stroll. Go walk around, eat at the restaurants, have a few drinks. It's beautiful and it's pretty empty. Definitely worth spending a few hours out there.

By spring do you mean before the middle of May? If so, go see Death Valley. In spring it is blanketed in wild flowers. It's beautiful, and pretty awesome at any time, but spring is something else. Go all the way up to the north end passing through Beatty, NV, and take Scotty's Junction and tour Scotty's Castle. Then swing over to Stove Pipe Wells, and back to the main road to Furnace Creek, and go to Badwater, then out and back to Las Vegas via Pahrump. If you really want time to explore, spend the night there.

After the end of May it's way too hot over there.

It's looking like Cinco de Mayo weekend. This sounds awesome!

I will have a car already (a friend from California will be driving to meet me) so that's not a problem. I didn't take the dam tour. I have seen Nation Lampoon Vegas Vacation, doesn't that count? HA HA!

I should mention that I will be on a budget (saving for a move later in the year) so things like helicopter rides are not really in it. I must say I might freak out a bit anyway...my trip to Vegas in Sept was my first time flying. Not sure I am ready for a helicopter LOL Or hot air balloon.

I guess I was thinking more of "non strip" stuff to see. I enjoyed the strip, but it's not my number one priority this visit. When I move, it will be Vegas or somewhere not far away. I can explore the strip more later.

This sounds like what I was looking for.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you do the Death Valley trip make sure to arrive in Death Valley junction on saturday for the performance at the AMARAGOSA Opera House.

It's a restored Opera House complete with an Opera diva. (Marta Becket) [altho she now remains seated for the show]

This is really the only "must see" if you are planning to move to Las Vegas. Driving all over the city will give you a better feel for what Las Vegas is really like, and a good idea of which areas appeal to you. You can do all of the touristy stuff, once you live there. Red Rock Canyon is right down the road from the Summerlin area, so that might be a good chance to kill two birds with one stone.

May is a nice time of year to visit, and that is when I am typically there. The temperatures can get warm, but usually not so hot as to make being outside, miserable. Last May was perfect.

Have fun!
