Is this a good deal or some sort of scam?

No Scam...My husband and I use it and love it. We do the Quartet Membership which allows us to reserve up to 4 tickets per show. It is perfect when you have friends/family from out of town coming in. There is a pretty good selection of shows that rotate through. The price for membership will pay for itself after the first show, so I totally think it is worth it.

I don't have any experience with Fil-A-Seat, but I have been very pleased with my House Seats membership. Like the previous poster mentioned, it pays for itself after a show or two.

I use FILL-a-Seat.
Some of the shows are crappy, but hey---it's a free show.
I've seen 2 show in the last 30 days.
Give it a shot

ShowTickets4Locals is free, but most of the shows are already "sold out" by the time the e-mail comes. You can pay for membership and get access to the tickets the prior evening.

I have a Fill-A-Seat membership I purchased through Groupon for $40. So far, I've only used it for one show. Most of the shows are not ones I want to see.

I received a free Fill-A-Seat membership and never once found a show.

Either:
  1. It didn't interest me
  2. It barely interested me but I had to work that evening
  3. I wanted to see the show, but no tickets were available

I didn't renew my membership after having seen zero shows.
