Yes, we have some Greatland stores with the grocery, not supercenter Target though. I go to the one in Boca Park (not Summerlin but on the border of). I was one of the first 50 customers in that store the day it opened (I think it was either 1998 or 1999) and I got a $50 gift certificate, lol.

Of course, back then, the Targets didn't have full grocery (some grocery only), at least none of them here in the valley. But now several of the bigger stores around the valley do. Produce, baked goods, frozen foods, meat. Bought fresh chicken cutlets on sale there a couple of weeks ago, but I find many of the grocery and frozen food items to be a bit on the expensive side.

Bummer! I try to avoid WalMart as much as possible.

So there are Greatland grocery stores by themselves? And what is the difference between a Target having full grocery and a supercenter?

I was to a Target SuperCenter in Victorville, CA a few months ago, it is like a Wal-Mart Supercenter, with a vision center, deli, big grocery store, etc.

The Greatland stores here have a small-ish grocery section, with a just a limited selection of produce, fresh meats, frozen items and fresh baked goods, along with the canned, packaged and paper good aisles Target always had.

Okay, gotcha.

We have Target Supercenters here as well as "regular" Target stores that have a small section of grocery items like coolers of milk and frozen dinners, etc. The supercenters (there's 3 here) are full on grocery stores with Target attached.

Other than that, IMO, I haven't found prices anywhere better than Smiths or Wallyworld Super Centers.

I just wish there was one big store that combined the best of Glaziers, Cardenas, Wallyworld and Smiths all rolled into one store located in Summerlin. Now that would make Summerlin even awesome-er lol
I read that they're building two Winco stores in the valley. If it's true, and based on past experience in another state, they should be really good for prices on staples (cans, dry goods, etc.) I didn't like the meat section very much but these stores might be different.

When you shop at Cardenas have you noticed a racism against non-Latinas (from men who work there -- not women)? I have, a couple of times. It won't make me stop shopping there but I wondered if anyone else has experienced it.

Davie, I'm with you about Summerlin. Love it here! Being near Red Rock and Suncoast means we have movies, bowling, fast food and 24-hr gaming 10 minutes away, plus the shopping and restaurants are good at Boca Park. I was renting a house in the neighborhood behind Boca for the first year I was here. It's a sweet little place. Add that we're getting a new mall there, and it'll be even better! Though I wonder what's going to happen to traffic. But having Fry's there will be good either way.

In my experience the Smith's at Durango and Sahara is slightly cheaper for some items than the one at Charleston/Hualapai. I like the western one better though, because it's cleaner and nicer. The one on Lake Mead at Rampart has a neat Jewish deli in the front.

Can you tell I like Smith's best of all available grocery stores

Summerlin is more expensive to live, but well worth it. I always wanted to live there, and maybe later on I will. I used to live next to it for 4 years, but that was renting. My favorite Summerlin Smiths store was the one on Lake Mead/Rampart.

Depending on where you live in the valley, say Summerlin for one, go to their local Fresh and Easy(or Smiths), and prices will be 10cents to 25cents higher for the same items than Aliante's Fresh and Easy. Go to the east side and the prices are less than Aliante, and much lower than Summerlin.
So what you do if you want to save more money, when you find yourself in a lower priced area, shop at their stores and bring it home. We always have a cooler in the back so we can take advantage of it.

We never shop at the same store all the time. Too boring and they get to know you by name after awhile. Husband hates that, (because he is weird that's why.) Wherever we happen to be in the valley, we stop in whatever store is nearby. So try that to save more money.
And once Winco opens, you can save even more money. People on Facebook rave about that place. The closest one to Summerlin will be the one on Decatur/Tropical. Right by the Beltway, same shopping center as the Super Target. That place is huge! Went by there a few days ago.

Always exciting when a new grocery store comes to town! Wish it were a bit closer to the Summerlin area though.

We're so bad, we live in the most exciting city on the planet and WE.... get excited over a new grocery store, lol.
