Keep in mind, Las Vegas has nowhere near the heath care - social services complex that NYC does. They have no income tax out there, and don't want to spend money on anything that even has a hint of a social program.

I completely understand and if i had a decent job that paid OK then I would try my best to stay in New York City. But fact of the matter is that my current salary isn't enough to pay for rent for a 1 bed room in a decent area. Everything about NYC is very expensive, a person really needs atleast 100k a year to live some what comfortable and i hate the cold lol

Hi! I lived in nyc for 5 years but live in Henderson. I totally think you should come here and try it out. The biggest risk is not taking one at all. Oh and i work in the healthcare field. I work in a rehab/ nursing home in green valley.

Good luck Christian...I have no degrees or specialized training of any sort, but I've been blessed enough to work as a full-time custodian for a school district near Seattle for the past 15 years and part-time floorcare technician at a nursing home. $70,000 isn't bad for someone without a degree but "Gosh!" I wish I were making the move like you and your friend. I love the Green Valley Ranch area, Lake Las Vegas and up near Red Rock casino. You'll love Vegas!

As my time gets closer, I get more and more nervous, I guess that is normal? haha. My biggest fear once again is finding employment and sadly enough my computer crashed last night which caused me to lose all my resumes . Thankfully I have one saved in my e-mail account.

I am planning to visit Las Vegas in mid April, just to check out the location that I will be staying it and get a feel for the area. Maybe even get something accomplished, like go for an interview or find a hiring agency.

Wish me luck guys/gals

I tried USAjobs.gov before when searching for a job here in NYC and did not have any luck. But I will give it another shot, maybe LV will give me a better opportunity with that website haha.

Thank You

I'm in the same stage that you are. I'm an expat that has been living in the US (always in Los Angeles) for almost 12 years now and I decided to start my own business, that I can run from anywhere I like, so NV sounds like a good option as it will save me about 15K/year in rent and taxes alone. I too want to go to LV in early/mid April to check out apartment options. I've been before as a tourist (many times too many! I hated visiting LV!) but the more I research, the more I realize there's a lot more to LV than the strip.

Best of luck!
