Perhaps we'll assist the economy so it can't be all bad although you guys must feel somewhat invaded. More and more of our friends from Western Canada are buying as we speak..:-)

More good news out today:

"NV Population Gain: Although there was seemingly a mass exodus from Las Vegas during the worst of the economic slump, apparently the population of Nevada actually rose by 0.6 percent, or some 17,152 residents, between July 2010 and July 2011, according to figures just released by the state demographer's office. I saw that on the news morning, and apparently, though only slightly, seems like people finding jobs went up a bit too.

The comment by George on your article says it all:

"The economy isn't going in the right direction. A record number of people have dropped out of the job market and are no longer counted, as you've read dozens of times but ignore, and as of Dec. 2011 a record high 46.5 million Americans are on food stamps. How can the economy be improving when an ever increasing number of people are on the government dole? If the BLS used the same methods to calculate unemployment as they did in 1994 and earlier the true number would be closer to 20%. Have you noticed the price of gas and gold lately?"

Good news? Not if the influx is predominantly Section 8 and squatters.

Who cares about housing?

People need to get back to work.If the unemployment rate was 1/3 of what it is, the housing problem will fix itself. People won't/can't buy houses if they don't have a steady job.
