I buy distilled water.

Vegas water tastes horrible.
People love to say they can't tell the difference. I damn sure can.
I can also tell the difference between bottled water and distilled.
Florida tap water has white things floating in it.
Nc tap wasn't terrible but still had a taste.
Vegas tap water is disgusting.

My water tastes fine. When I took my dog to my BF's place (he has an RO), she would not drink it.

To be fair, the actual severity of this is being researched (hot topic) for many municipal water sources not just Lake Mead.

And to be fair, what kind of due diligence are people doing for various water filtration systems and bottled waters. IMHO, if I really needed clean water, I'd get distilled and hope nothing was leeching from the bottle.

I noticed that when I bought my home that was brand new, the water from tap was undrinkable. I usually drink bottled anyway, but it was weird because the longer we live there, the better it tastes.

Without delving into privacy matters, I can say that the last 15 years of my life have revolved around water quality. I know what is in my water because it is in my professional interest to know. I have pestered the water people in each of the last few places I've lived because I needed to know EXACTLY what is in the water in order to make a living. I wasn't always a cook after all. "Professional cook" isn't even plan B. It is plan C.

Las Vegas water is among the worst in the country. And this is coming from someone who previously lived in Florida -- which ALSO has some of the worst water in the country.

Las Vegas water is unhealthy. I will not cook with it, drink it, shower with it, nor even brush my teeth with it. Nothing. I do not want to end up like Marie Curie.

Sorry but if you are such an authority on water quality, please cite sources other than dailyfinance.com. So you *do* trust the "water people" to honestly report on water quality? I do. I think there is way less monitoring/oversight of bottled water. If one is truly concerned about water quality, they would send samples to several different chemical analysis labs on a regular basis. Otherwise you're just guessing/assuming. And don't get me started on that alkaline water mavhine nonsense!

We are the 23rd worst according to this list:

Americas Worst City Water

When I was looking for other sources, they all seem to just quote the same outside source. They all ranked Las Vegas 3rd and North Las Vegas 8th. Which is suspect in itself since we have the same exact supplier. Henderson wasn't on the list at all.

Vegas water could cure cancer and extend your life and reverse aging and I would have a hard time drinking it because it tastes like garbage. The water from my grandmother's well in Washington State tastes like heaven compared to this crap.

The EPA will MAKE you fix radon in your house if it is greater than four picocuries per liter. Four.

Well water in Las Vegas has up to 10 pCi/l of alpha particles. The maximum allowed by the EPA is 15. (And I say that's not strict enough.) City water hovers around three pCi/l. In addition, we're picking some more rads from radium. Furthermore, at 15 ppb, we're right at the "action level" for lead in the water. And then there's the four ppb of uranium in the water. Sure, four parts per billion isn't much. But it's more than what is considered safe.

And this assumes that the water testing is completely bias free. I don't trust the EPA at all in this regard. Sea water near beaches in my home state would regularly test positive for E.coli during the summer. But NEVER during a big holiday weekend like July 4. Miraculously, the levels would go down during the long weekends. I think that's a crock -- it still goes on to this day.

And I also think our water supply is worse than the government agencies let on. Drink it if you want. I won't. It doesn't cost all that much to remove the pollutants.
