But Osheas is closing before the OP gets to Vegas. I would add to the list, New York, New York, maybe the Luxor and certainly Paris and the Venecian.

FYI: It's Valley of Fire not Valley of the Fire.

Pahrump not Pawrump.

But why Pahrump? There is nothing there. It is one of the gateways to Death Valley though, and the China Ranch Date Farm. China Ranch Date Farm

When going to The Valley of Fire State Park most people take I-15 to the turnoff at the Indian Fireworks store. But they miss the really scenic route which is the North Shore Road of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Then return to Las Vegas via Overton and Logandale, stopping at the Lost City Museum on the way back to I-15. Lost City Museum

Either way, take plenty of water and maybe some snacks, and wear sturdy hiking shoes and don't be upset when they turn red from the sand.

Don't forget Hoover Dam. You can tour the dam and museum on your own, and you can take the guided tour within the dam. And the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge too. You can park on the Nevada side and walk out on the bridge for a fantastic view.

If you are from anywhere east of the Rockies you would probably be awed by Mt. Charleston. Maybe breakfast at Charleston Lodge in Kyle Canyon, then explore around the mountains over as far as the Ski Resort in Lee Canyon? One way to do it is go up the mountain via Kyle Canyon Road, and return via Lee Canyon Road. Then when you get back to U.S. 95 at Lee Cyn, turn left instead of right for a few miles to Indian Springs and Creech AFB. There you are very likely to see a drone aircraft flying around. This is where they pilot the drones that are protecting our soldiers in Afghanistan and spying on half the world. Turn around at Indian Springs and head back to town. As you do, you'll see mountains to your left all the way to town. Over those mountains is where they detonated hundreds of atomic bombs. Before testing went underground Las Vegans would sit on the front porch and watch the mushroom clouds form over those mountains.

Other things that always surprise visitors are The Springs Preserve and Nevada State Museum Nevada State Museum .

Also, Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, Spring Mountain Ranch SP, Bonnie Springs Ranch, and the Clark County Museum. Clark County Museum

Thanks for the corredtions even if I do think you are being a little tacky. BTW, Vegas was, at one time ;primarily for gamblers. In fact my husband wrote a column about this very subject in the late 80s that appeared in the Chicago Tribune and I have been going to Vegas since 1944. Yes, it was for gamblers at that time. did you ever try to take a couple of kids there in 1964?

You could spend WEEKS there and never gamble a penny! Lots to do and see, especially if you've never been to the area!

A rental car will take you lots of places...check out the prices. Cabs are ok for shorter distances, but if you need one or two cabs daily, the cost will really rack up!

Get a guidebook on Vegas....lots of info that will help you. If you make it to the "strip", there are lots of transportation options that are of little to no cost to help you get up and down the main drag.....looks walkable, but it's bigger than it appears! Make use of monorails and such!

Why is it "tacky" to correct someone from out of town about the proper name of something in one's city? I'm always grateful when someone clues me in on the locals' way of doing things. I wasn't in Washington, DC, for a day before someone informed me that the Maryland suburb is called Silver Spring, singular, not Silver Springs, for example. When things like that happen to me, I'm appreciative.

I would advise op to check out downtown as well. Arts district, zip-lining Fremont, that silly but fun, insert-coins video gamer bar, and the pool slide that goes through the shark tank at Golden Nugget.

correcting in a polite way is one thing. Correcting someones spelling, not knowing what their background is I find very different. In fact we are not supposed to make referances to spelling or grammer. I am sorry if I seemed snippy, but I happen to have a learning disability that causes me to see words differently than others see them. That is why I would never correct someone without knowing the situation.

Is the Shark Tank new? I don't remember it and we used to stay at the Golden Nugget all the time? I too would recommend Freemont street, we love it.

I am planning to do the zip line at Fremont next trip! I was wearing a dress last time, so I thought it best to not flash everyone below
