We have an antique two-piece hutch and an oak, claw-foot dinette table with chairs that we no longer need. We wanted to put them on Craigslist, but then thought that we may be better off placing them in a consignment shop. I am looking for opinions on which venue is better and any experiences forumites have had selling furniture in consignment shops. Any recommendations for good consignment shops?

Our friends placed some high end items with Colleens Consignment and were very happy with the experience. The consignee at Colleens immediately recognized the pieces, who made then, etc which instilled confidence. They received an offer on the items quickly and Colleens called them before accepting to be sure they were comfortable with the price.

Colleens has several locations throughout the valley. The wife and I have been to several of their stores. Their showrooms are always nice and they seem to carry mostly quality items.

We had a couple of nice antique furniture pieces that we decided to consign. Inquired first at Home Consignment Store (Centennial) but they declined because "no one in Las Vegas is interested in buying antiques. Maybe you should haul them to California and find a consigner there." Hm. There are a number of antique dealers, mostly in downtown LV, but I have not investigated whethere they buy/trade.
