I keep hearing about angieslist, but I am really turned off by there marketing and payments, everything with them is Monthy/yearly
recurring costs to your credit card / paypal.

I feel like there a Parasite feeding off my money.

I really need some advice joining them

how would YOU rate angies list, on angies list??

Jonathan

I didn't join. Plenty of good services out there that you don't need to spend $$ to know about.

At $20 a year, it's worth it all day long

Well I can attest from personal experience that there is a swimming pool water fall contractor on there that does shoddy work. Be sure no matter where you get your help to inspect their prior jobs and get references you can call.

Yeah, I have never even considered joining. Most of the time I feel I can ask around or even come on this board if I need some work done and get a reference.

I have only recommended Angies list because if you are a homeowner and you want to do a lot of work on your home, why not try to find the best and avoid the worst. It's only $20 a year, which works out around $1.66 a month. Or around 55cents a day. That being said, you can also find out about home repair etc on sites like Yelp.com and others for free.

I've had great luck with contractors I've found via angie's list. I've easily saved what it cost and get some piece of mind as well. They have specials from time to time, I bought a four year membership last year for $12/year.

As highly as I can recommend any product or service, I recommend Angie's List. Since Sept of last year, I have been renovating my home in LV. I have used Angie's List extensively to research contractors. The only time I had a problem with a contractor was when I hired one that did not have solid A grade reviews. I hired a swimming pool contractor that had a few C grades and lower mixed with many A grades. Sure enough, I had a problem.

Most of mY issues with the contractor were resolved even if the process was difficult and unpleasant. One lingering problem remained, however, and Angie's List was instrumental in getting it resolved. The contractor was refusing to hook up my auto fill feature after having been hired to install and restore all of he equipment needed to operate the pool. Hooking up the auto fill feature was going to cost between $100-300. The contractor refused to do it. I was in the process of providing a negative review over the phone to Angie's List customer service when the person suggested their dispute resolution service. It worked great.

I had complained to the BBB and contacted the state contractors licensing board without any real response. But after Angie's List contacted the contractor, I heard back from him almost immediately, and within the week, the auto fill feature was hooked up.

I could go on and on and on about what a great value Angie's List. But suffice to say, I have gotten my money's worth and then some from the site and the service. If you have more questions, pm me.
