At the sign yesterday, there was a guy there helping people with pictures. Is this a paid person, and if so, who does he work for? He was pretty good, getting people to pose and whatnot.

He asked where I was from and got exicted when I told him...he's from Iowa, too.

I don't know the guy you're talking about, but usually they are working for tips. I hope you gave him $5. Keep Nevada green ...leave your money here and visit it often.

The new sign looks so much better. The old one had obvious bolts and panel markings that were visible at night. Maybe they just improved it, I'm not sure.

They just improved it when they created a safer area for people to take pictures, plus they put in parking. It's the original sign. The lady that created it is interviewed now and then by reporters.

So...it's the original sign, or an "improved" sign??

It never even occurred to me to tip him! And I didn't see anyone else tip him either. (there were 2 groups ahead of me getting photos, and they didn't tip. If I had seen him get a tip I would have thought to do it.)

My next trip I might be bringing along a first time visitor and I'm sure they will want to see the sign. If a guy is there taking pics I will tip him for sure.

There was nobody like that there the last time we went. We had to get some European tourists that barely spoke English to take our picture. Fortunately, it's something that's easy to understand without needing to know the language. But on that note, I absolutely LOVE that they finally put that parking lot in! What took them so long to realize how necessary that was?

Remind me to get a wing-man to fake tip me in front of other people down on the strip for random favors. Nothing like cashing in on peoples grudging sense of obligation to dispense with their $$.

I really would have been fine with giving him a buck or two. He was doing much more than just snapping picutres, he was helping people pose in ways to get really good shots. Like the group of girls in front of me...he had them all jump on the count of three. He tried to get me to do a few poses, but I declined after one (hate having my pic taken and all) but it seemed to me like he really knew what he was doing. That is why I assumed he was working for someone!
