Still...a 12-inch scope is quite impressive!

A 12" scope is a light-bucket, Scoop. I had a 12" Meade, but I sucked at astrophotography. Now I just have a coma-free Celestron 8", which suits me just fine for visual viewing. Are you a member of LVAS?

Unfortunately, no. I'm always working when they meet. Which is a shame because I have a LOT to learn. I bought the Lightbridge because it was a ripping good deal on craigslist. I don't even remember what I paid. But it wasn't all that much.

Usually I just set the dob up on the patio. And then I find the Orion nebula, Andromeda, Jupiter or Saturn depending on the season. I have a Seymour filter that I slap in front of the Lightbridge when I want to look at the sun, which is really cool when there's good solar activity.

I had a alt-az 8" scope when I lived in Florida. But setting it up to track was a pain. I prefer the point and go of the dob. While I'm OK being just an astronomy dilettante, it's something I'd like to get better at eventually.
