Going back on topic, I never liked how gas stations (Rebel and Terrible's were the worst offenders IMO) charge 5-10c more per gallon just because I dont carry cash

Im starting to see a lot of that here in Florida too. Its like businesses are punishing those who dont pay with cash. Only reason I dont is because I got mugged back in 2008, havent carried cash since

It's a pretty simple law of economics - if businesses incur an additional charge, as they do when someone uses a credit or debit card, that charge often is passed on to the customer. It's not unlike the U.S. Postal Service raising its rates and a business' shipping charge going up accordingly.

I agree.

However, there is a general misconception that accepting cash only has no cost attached to it. Accepting cash means that you have to contract with an armored car service and that you have a much greater risk of armed robbery and internal misappropriation by employees and managers.

True. And many banks also charge a fee for every deposit processed.
